If you are shopping for a MY16.5 LR4 be aware

On a whim I dropped by my dealership today to checkout the MY16 LR4 Lux models. They had a number with the HD package in both LUX and Landmark. So I thought maybe I would extend my relationship with LR a couple years longer by switching out to a new one (my current one is MY14). What I...

    Camping Trailer

Just curious. When you all pull your trailers, how do you use the transmission. I was on a Land Cruiser site recently where they were discussing pulling a trailer with the new 8-speed transmission they added to that truck. Apparently there is a setting for the LC that allows you to limit the...

    Camping Trailer

Yep. I put it on top. When I took this pic I had it in the back of the LR4 but that is awkward when you want to use the back. Most of last summer I had it on top. Even had to take a FS spare on/off a couple of times on the trail due to flats. :argh: It would be nice if we didn't have to...

    Camping Trailer

Here is my setup. 5100 lbs dry. About 6,000 lbs loaded. (Max GVW is 6,500). Just under 25' in length when towing. 11' high. Curt Class III receiver. Hensley Arrow Cub hitch. And, yes, it is more complex to hookup and unhook. And, yes, due to the higher tongue weight (I have...

    Camping Trailer

BTW, even easier than access mode (for me anyway) is using the remote key to raise/lower the LR4. That way I don't need to get back in the car and I can more precisely lower the LR4 to where I want it and watch as it comes down. Though I don't know if the 2011 had that ability with the remote...

50K. Replaced front pads, front struts

Actually, it is around 49,500 miles. Brake pad replacement light came on for the front pads. Rears were replaced around 35K. The dealer also decided to replace the front struts under warranty as they were "soft". I'm pretty pleased with how the brakes held up for me. But I am a "patient"...

    Showoff Your LR4

:rolleyes:I don't mind the interior of the LC. And they have some cool features. Much larger nav/infotainment screen than the LR4. And they have a reasonably effective camera system that has its own dedicated hard button. (I'm not a fan of lots of soft buttons so I also like that the LC...

    Showoff Your LR4

Sigh. Seeing the spy shots for the coming "Discovery" and seeing a handful of 2016 Landmarks on our dealer's lot with the HD package I begin to think crazy things like taking a huge loss on my MY2014 and buying a 2016 simply so I could get another 2-3 years in an LR4. Because, when my current...

    LR5 Release Updates?

LOL! Seriously. My first thought was that this guy stole the car or maybe he's a dock worker. I certainly hope he didn't get those wounds trying to drive this thing! As for the interior, I don't care for it at all. Even assuming that they would "update" the interior I expected, well...

10 days new - water on the floor

Seems to me that they are not all caused by the same fault but rather a mistake over oversight during manufacturing with respect to this tube or that tube. You would think they would fix their QC processes to ensure this doesn't happen. And, yes, I would be upset with something like this in...

    Bluetooth issue

I have never had problems with my iOS update, Maggie, but what Umberto suggests is certainly a good idea. (Pretty much anything Umberto suggests is a good idea!)

    Showoff Your LR4

I thought maybe she meant "leaning the kinks out" rather than "learning". Seriously, Maggie, congratulations. I have 2 years and 50K now on mine and continue to love the way it drives.

    Towing

Interesting point about the 1Up bike rack. I use it as well but with the OEM plug-in hitch. I like it that way because I most often use the 1Up configured for a single bike and when I do so I can have the bike rack folded up and the LR4 tailgate can fold down all the way. So I can leave the...

Key Fob "washed" - still works

Left my key fob in my pants. (The problem with cargo pants is all those dang pockets.) Went through the "wash" cycle but fortunately not the spin/rinse cycle. Took the silver cap and the manual access key off and let it sit for 3 days. Still works. BTW, after the three days I kept our...

    side step/protection beam

Had the black OEM tubes but was disappointed. IMO, not enough room to use safely as a step. (I put "sand paper tape" on them and still wasn't comfortable.) Replaced them with Voyager sliders with the step built in. Much, much happier. I use the steps all the time now for both getting in the...

Picking up new LR4--what should I know?

I have a very similar driving profile to cperez though most of it is at 6,000' and higher. I have always done high test (nearly always Shell V-Power) but when I filled up last night and realized I was paying 30 cents more per gallon I began to wonder if I should cheat once in a while. For the...

Picking up new LR4--what should I know?

Ha ha! Note Rule #1. How many threads are there on tires for 20" wheels? And as for Rule #6, I often wave to Land Rovers. But increasingly in my area they seem to be driven by people with their noses in the air - or in their phone. Which, BTW, suggests yet another rule: Thou shalt not text...

    Lowering an LR4.

If going the "lowrider" route you might as well add hydraulics, accumulators and switch gear so you can get a good front end bounce like those blinged out ghetto cars. Hey, then it might simulate some of the bounce that I get off road.

So I took my LR4 Off Roading.

Ha! I guess winter isn't over yet.

Camping Trip - Breaking in the RTT + Drawer System

Looks like a great trip. And a great setup. And she's smiling which is even better! Roverman, I believe his wheels and tires are in his profile at the end of his posts (285/65R18 Nitto Grapplers on LR3'wheelsmwoth spacers) Your iPad looks huge next to the puny Nav system screen. Gaia is a...

    Side step

Maybe. But I stand on mine all the time so it is the top that is most likely to get scratched. I did put some of that tape like very course sand paper for secure footing when standing on them.

    Side step

The bolt holes are already in the frame. On each slider, 6 bolts go up from underneath and 5 go in from the side. 11 bolts per slider. In my case no drilling was required though the people at Voyager did say that on rare occasion the factory drilling process may have been a bit off for a...

    Side step

Sooooryyyyy. BTW, the cheaper and easier comparison was to the Tactical 4x4 sliders which are somewhat more complicated to install and more expensive than the Voyagers but also extend further underneath the chassis and have protection for the compressor.
