It's Done. LR4 is gone. Compos, OEM Hitch for sale

First, a big sigh. OK. Our LR4 is gone. In a word - tongue weight (OK, that is 2 words.) We just couldn't get comfortable with the ambiguity surrounding the stated (owner's manual) tongue weight of 550# and the dealer not being able to offer anything that made us comfortable. I had heard...

    Snow tires on 19's

If you are interested, I have a set of 4 255/55 R19Nokian Hakkapeliittas for sale with <10K on them. Two short seasons. I just took them off my (OK, no longer mine) 2014 LR4. I was running them on the stock wheels but took them off when I traded in the truck. I would be willing to sell them...

    ECO System Battery

Just past 50K. Happened about a month ago. 54K. I had the extended LR warranty but they said this isn't covered. That it is normal wear.

    ECO System Battery

Just a heads up. My ECO start/stop system stopped working about a week ago and the warning light is on most of the time now. Took into the dealership. Apparently it has its own battery, which has gone bad after 2 years and 50K miles. This is a maintenance item. Over $600 to replace! $600...

Suggestions On How To Sell My LR4 (Sad Day)

We had a Rockwood Roo as well (23IKSS) It was a great trailer - especially if we had kids and/or dogs, but after a season we decided the hybrid route was not for us. It is now for sale.

Can someone post where LR mounted Brake Controller LR4

Mine was mounted in the same spot by the dealer. Not the easiest to reach should you need to apply the brake manually but my particular needed to be mostly level to begin with.

Suggestions On How To Sell My LR4 (Sad Day)

LOL! I mentioned to my wife this morning that maybe, in addition to test driving a LC, we should test drive a truck. The look I got back made it very clear that a truck will NOT be an option. And as for the base configuration, it is the mismatched tongue weight that the speculation and lack...

Suggestions On How To Sell My LR4 (Sad Day)

Thanks. As you can imagine, I am digging into a couple of LC forums to see what I can uncover. Definitely a part of my research before I make a final decision. And, no, I am not a DIY guy. But what the heck, if I buy something that expensive I can probably afford to pay someone to replace...

Suggestions On How To Sell My LR4 (Sad Day)

I would need to know that the issues encountered with the Rhino have truly been solved. Also that the WD/anti-sway hitch is in fact not needed with our size trailer. And that if the Rhino doesn't work will the Curt Class III (600 lbs max tongue with w/o a WD hitch) work. There are simply a...

Suggestions On How To Sell My LR4 (Sad Day)

Hey, Chris. I did talk with Andy. That was led me to the Hensley. And the Curt Hitch Receiver - although they weld it to the frame. And for those lining up for my wheels  I have not totally abandoned the idea of making the LR4 work. I have not completed my test drives of the LC...

    Showoff Your LR4

Gorgeous! You have more hutzpah than I do - you and those who have done Black Bear. I'm not a shelf road person and that is a very serious shelf road. I saw a video this week from the dash cam of a Jeep that rolled on Black Bear. That said, this is an awesome view and a great looking truck!

Suggestions On How To Sell My LR4 (Sad Day)

Yikes, most of this just became a discussion of towing-related topics and maybe should be addressed there. But I don't want to bring up that I am considering a switch in any other threads. BTW, the decision of what TV we will get is not final. We may look at a properly built out Ford 150...

Suggestions On How To Sell My LR4 (Sad Day)

OK. Time to come clean. No, not a truck. It wouldn't fit in our garage or on some of the trails we do. And would not be as good a road trip vehicle. Though I must admit I have had many, many people who pull trailers similar to ours tell me the only way to make everything right is to pull...

Suggestions On How To Sell My LR4 (Sad Day)

Great question. And for the last year I have tried to get my head around this. But the lack of clarity and consistency (7700# towing capacity but 550# max tongue weight with no adequate explanation as to why.) WD or no WD (I need WD with my trailer.) Sway control does or doesn't work with an...

Suggestions On How To Sell My LR4 (Sad Day)

This is an extremely hard message to post. But, it is highly likely that we will be selling our LR4 soon - maybe as soon as possible. We (certainly I) have loved this vehicle. But as time has gone on, towing has become a higher priority for us and there are simply enough questions and...

    LR5 Release Updates?

Hmmm. That looks identical to the Discovery Sport they debuted at the Chicago Auto Show in 2014. Same color and everything. I don't think that is the Discovery.

Does the trailer stability assist feature interfere with BC or Wt dist. hitch?

The questions surrounding the OEM hitch receiver have to do with tongue weight. Though 770 lbs max tongue weight is stamped onto the side of the hitch receiver, there are arguments that you should not exceed 550 lbs. and most dealers (if not all) will point to that limit. There are cases (I...

Does the trailer stability assist feature interfere with BC or Wt dist. hitch?

Anti-sway and weight distribution are two different things though, like everything else, they are part of an overall system. My hitch setup has both as many do. But I can lighten up the WD without affecting the anti-sway function.

    LR5 Release Updates?

I think he was referring to your handle "catman". As for the split tailgate, I have always loved vehicles with it. But that is because I use it all the time when we are out on some adventure. Table, seat, platform, step to help when I'm getting stuff on/off the roof rack, etc. But then...

Does the trailer stability assist feature interfere with BC or Wt dist. hitch?

Which hybrid did you get? We pulled a Rockwood Roo 23IKSS last year with a Hensley hitch. If the TSA was active I didn't notice. The Hensley uses a different approach to sway control but the WD function is similar to other makes. Talking with the Andersen Hitch people this year they did...

    Camping Trailer

Thanks! Just heard back from BFG that I should use 45/55 for "normal" driving with the KO2s on the 2014 LR4. As for towing they wouldn't recommend a specific PSI but stated the following: "...your LT265/60R18/E (tire size) can hold 2,475lbs at 60 psi, 2,755lbs at 70 psi, and 3,000lbs at 80...

PSI for BFG KO2? Normal and Towing

Thanks, Umberto! I do have the KO2s with the E rating. I just heard back from BFG and they confirmed that for the 2014 LR4 I should use 45 front and 55 rear. They would not recommend a specific PSI for towing of course but they did state the following: "...your LT265/60R18/E (tire size) can...

    Camping Trailer

BTW, here is a nice summary of what is happening when using an Andersen hitch system by an Andersen owner/user on the forum for our trailer brand. "Two sets of forces will impact the Andersen's Anti-Sway capability. The hitch pin rides in a tapered sleeve lined with a friction material...
