    16.5MY LR4 Rock Slider Recommendations?

As Umberto states, the T44 sliders offer more protection as the extend further underneath the frame and add protection for the compressor. Naturally they are heavier, etc. I went with the Voyagers because they, too, attach to the frame (11 bolts on each side) and will support the weight of the...

    16.5MY LR4 Rock Slider Recommendations?

I had the Voyager sliders on mine. With the step. We really liked them. I have heard that the paint will eventually begin to chip off and I was seeing some of that. But, heck, they are rock sliders and I was driving over a LOT of gravel and broken rock. ;-)

    LR5 Release Updates?

Maybe. But the angle looks like it could be a bit off and if it is on the passenger side then where is the one on the driver side? But at this point you all have me LOL! Its like all of the rumor and speculation about a new Apple device. Though, I admit, it is fun. And even though I'm no...

    Thoughts on new forum layout?

Ha! Since I don't visit as often when I came here I thought something had happened and I'd been kicked off the "real" forum. As it ends up, the land cruiser forum I am on also uses XenForo though their background is black. I prefer the white. ;-)

    Showoff Your LR4

Medano Pass is a fun trail. Sand, but not deep, sand dune type sand. I love driving in that type of sand as it seems "quiet". And, yes, should not be an issue for the LR4. Airing down may help. But in some of the deeper sand locations on the route they put down rubber mats. They really...

    Showoff Your LR4

Which drone do you have? I am thinking about one for next year. (Planning to ask for it for Christmas.) I just began researching them. I do some photography when I travel and I'm thinking that if it has a decent camera I can get some still from different vantage points as well as some video.

Kuat NV Bike Rack (hitch mount) on LR4

BTW, just noticed a "Hitch Rack Shootout" on Expedition Portal. http://expeditionportal.com/hitch-rack-shootout/ The author reviews offerings from Thule, Kuat, Yakima and 1Up. His choice is 1Up but he does admit that (like me) he often rides alone so the 1Up appeals to him as he can...

Kuat NV Bike Rack (hitch mount) on LR4

Wow! That's a serious load. I can see how the LR4 receiver with the 4-bike configuration could be an issue off road. Or on a steep driveway. Our 2-bike configuration was never an issue but the 4-bike is definitely longer. I would think that would be an issue with any 4-bike rack on the LR4...

I echo Chris on the video production quality. Much better than my handheld GoPro vids (that I never shared). I definitely need to get a drone!

Kuat NV Bike Rack (hitch mount) on LR4

The extension worked out great. Not that hard to add/remove. There are 2 bolts that you tighten/loosen with a unique "allen wrench like" tool which also provides a degree of security as you need the tool to remove the rack from the trailer hitch receiver and to install/remove the add ons for...

Kuat NV Bike Rack (hitch mount) on LR4

I have the 1UpUSA and it worked great with our LR4. But it was only the single bike model (which when stowed/folded up allowed me to lower the tailgate without interference which was a big plus for me as I could leave it on most of the Summer.) I had a single bike extension for when I would be...

    Snow tires on 19's

BTW, now that I have the Compos and KO2s sold, the Hakka's are still sitting in the garage. I'll probably be putting then on Craigs List in late September as there are a lot of LR4s in the area and these fit the stock wheels. Just saying. ;-)

It's Done. LR4 is gone. Compos, OEM Hitch for sale

First impressions of the 2016 Land Cruiser vs the 2014 LR4. This will be brief as I have no where near the experience with the LC that I/we had with the LR4. I may do a more extended comparison on its own thread in the future. But let me first say that whether one is "better" than the other...

BTW, I have the "unit" for the BT IIDTool which of course I no longer need. Is it possible for me to sell it to someone? Is it even worth it. I suspect that the new owner would still need to pay for it to be licensed to their VPN.

David, I am glad to hear you are back in MA. Back "home" so to speak. Keep that MY13 LR4. Great vehicle - and low mileage. No need to change. I had over 54K miles on mine so you should keep yours at least that long! ;-) And I expect that I could have easily gotten 150K on mine if our...

It's Done. LR4 is gone. Compos, OEM Hitch for sale

Sorry. I have been slammed with work and other activities. I haven't had time to work through the requests for the hitches or to make sure I in fact can find the keys. (My garage is in a bit of disarray at the moment.) And tomorrow I leave at 5AM to go install a new hitch on our trailer...

Thanks, Umberto, and all of you for such kind words. It has been great to learn from so many of you and to have a group where I can share some of modest adventures. People who understand the the LR3/4 and the Discovery have always been much more than merely a means of transportation. I will...

Agree! Can just make things worse. Even with tow vehicles that don't have anti-sway. I pretty much only use the manual lever to test/adjust the brake controller and trailer brakes on level ground.

Thanks, Chris. I'll probably lurk from time to time. I may not be able to assist with technical LR4 stuff. But I'll still be doing some off roading and some adventuring. And I am very curious to see how the new Discovery works out. Let's stay in touch. Maybe we'll run into each other on...

That is awesome that you finally got something definitive out of LR corporate, Mike! (They could have save a lot of people a lot of frustration if they had stepped up sooner. The 800 hitch weight is very encouraging - and finally something that makes sense. Did they say whether this would be...

The first hitch receiver only has one key. At some point this Spring we were seriously considering going with a lighter weight trailer so that we could use the OEM hitch receiver. For that I wanted to be sure I had two keys and had a new one. Then when looking at trailers we found we didn't...

A few of you asked for pictures of the wheels and tires. Here you go... (That is a quarter between the threads in case it wasn't obvious.) BTW, you can also have my Land Rover cloth spare tire cover if you are interested.
