Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

Let us know what you think once you get them on and start using them. Having destroyed two of my Dynapros on the last trail of the season this year I plan to put the KO2s on my Compos in the Spring. I didn't do anything unusual with the PSI on the DynaPros but it looks like I need to learn more...

Brakes - Replace Now or Wait

As the others have said, wait for the light then schedule to have it done at your convenience - no hurry given that you don't travel that much over the winter. My light went on a couple of weeks ago. I went ahead and took it in yesterday as I had a window of opportunity where that was...

    Showoff Your LR4

Good pics, Umberto. Makes me want to get back to Sedona soon. Maybe his winter. Last year my wife convinced me to hike Broken Arrow. Next time around its my turn and we'll drive it. There are 2-3 other trails I want to do in that area as well.

About to make the jump to LR4 from Toyota 4Runner

We moved to the LR4 (2014 model) about 16 months ago specifically because we do a lot of off-pavement excursions (not hard core) here in Colorado. Sometimes that includes mountain biking (or rather what my wife calls "cross country" because again we are not hard core). It has been awesome for...

How to change an LR4 tire with a Hi Lift Jack?

Thanks, Joe! That was great. I'm definitely saving this post in Evernote and I now have a small floor jack (like jwest) that I will throw in the back. It can't be that much more weight than the Hi Lift. I'll continue to carry the XJack for getting out of soft stuff - even if it is someone else.

    Rear ended yesterday

Ouch! Reminds me of when my son totaled my Acura Legend many years ago. No one was hurt as he was just starting up at a light and forget to ascertain that the SUV in front of him was moving. My (former) Legend looked a bit like the car that hit you. Hopefully everyone is OK?

    Showoff Your LR4

Hey, Axel, glad to see you're still hanging around! It seems to me that the tire fit topic has circled around a number of times - often on threads that didn't start out as tire threads! Of course, I'll be very interested in the Spring when I spring for a set of KO2s. I'll need to decide...

Whimp Warning - How do people get there spare on/off their roof rack?

Just a follow up. Since I had to change tires a couple of times this weekend there was a lot of getting the wheel/tire up and down. No problem. As was said, lift it to the tailgate, hop up, lift it onto the rack. Wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

How to change an LR4 tire with a Hi Lift Jack?

I have a bottle jack but I don't typically carry it. (I was ignorantly confident in the Hi Lift which with my setup - no after market jack points - was not as easy as I had imagined.). Next Spring I will consider Tactical 4x4 sliders again. And the suggestions here are helpful. I do need to...

    LR5 Release Updates?

A lot depends on the price point and what in fact is included in the new model and also whether they have first run issues. In some ways it won't be as much of a direct competitor if it is substantially different. So in some markets (probably the mass market) the LR4 may loose out to the new...

How to change an LR4 tire with a Hi Lift Jack?

Good point. I have the wheel lift. But didn't think about blocking. This is the sort of problem solving I haven't quite figured out yet. Nothing like experience to learn lessons.

How to change an LR4 tire with a Hi Lift Jack?

And if I were I would certainly take you up on that! I may get up that way one of these days. It looks like one of our sons may decide to remain in Seattle after his residency. Maybe even marry and settle down there. As it was I discovered that I only appear to have damaged the plastic...

How to change an LR4 tire with a Hi Lift Jack?

Thanks. So much to learn. Between the LR4, off roading in general and a new trailer my head is spinning and in the process I am making mistakes and/or exposing gaps. But that's how we learn - or at least that is how I learn. And it helps that I am blessed with a patient and mildly amused...

LR4 as a off road vehicle

Yep. I have the MY14 and ordered it with the HD package which includes low range - which I use often - and a full size spare. After today I'll be looking at sliders and other protection in the spring before I hit the trails - and start changing tires - again.

    Showoff Your LR4

And how do we think the 285/60/18 will fit? I will be needing to buy a new set of 18" tires in the Spring. (Its been a bad couple of days for me and tires.) I thought I would move to BFG as a number of those on the forum seem to like them.

    Showoff Your LR4

Ha! It does look it bit odd to see it so well kitted out - and at the same time so very clean!

How to change an LR4 tire with a Hi Lift Jack?

I am LOL! So after changing my right rear wheel yesterday because the tire has some (hopefully minor) sidewall damage - which was the catalyst for my original post - we had another flat out on the trail today! I tried to use the X Jack but I couldn't get it positioned correctly. I tried the...

How to change an LR4 tire with a Hi Lift Jack?

Had to change my right rear tire today. (Sidewall cut while on the trail yesterday - tire didn't blow but I wanted to change it before towing our trailer home.) My stock, OEM scissor jack was destroyed earlier this year. I carry a Hi Lift jack but had not used it yet. I tried to use it to...

LR4 as a off road vehicle

As jwest pointed out, there are a lot of threads already on this forum about going off road and lots of videos on youtube with LR4s going off road. That said, some of the best advice I received from a Land Rover training expert was to think "expedition off road" meaning that you need to drive...

    LR5 Release Updates?

LOL. I must admit that I find these debates entertaining. ;-). The reality for me is that I'll worry about all this when my '14 LR4 dies. If I don't die first we'll see what's on the menu. But I do get a kick out of the "passionate" debates.

    LR5 Release Updates?

Ha Ha! Have you seen the recent Discovery Sport commercial where a wedding gets rained out or something so they all hop in a Discovery Sport and drive up into the mountains to hold the wedding. Wow. After all, that's why you and I bought an LR3/4, right? I think the current regime doesn't...

LOL. Discovery Sport Named One of CR's 4th Worst Cars in 2015

I agree that I would never look to CR for a review on a very offroad and adventure-capable, semi-luxury truck for which MPG is lower on the list of priorities. But given that the Sport is built on the Evoque platform and that buyers in this category care far more about the infotainment than...

LOL. Discovery Sport Named One of CR's 4th Worst Cars in 2015

I don't have the link but USA Today had a post on it. "Flat footed engine and a transmission that is unrefined. Handling is 'lumbering' and the entertainment system seems to be from another age." Wow. Slammed.

New LR Trailer Towing Vision Tech

Following on the see-through-the-hood virtual vision stuff we saw last year, here is some even more advanced vision tech for the rear end (the trailer towing end.) Maybe I've been to cynical as to whether the new Discovery will retain towing capabilities at least on par with the current LR4...

Towing a 5700 lbs Travel Trailer - it worked!

Hey, Steve. It is a Rockwood Roo 23IKSS - the early 2016 model. We went with a hybrid as you get much more interior space and a more open, airy and light interior than if we had gone with a hard side. The downside for some is that the beds will not be as warm and won't stop an angry or...
