New 2016 HSE Owner - Couple questions

Congrats, I remember the excitement when we first picked up ours. It hasn't stopped. Any DIY oil change instructions out there for this engine? Where's the best place to buy LR accessories? For OEM parts I always go to the Land Rover Rocklin (Northern CA dealership)...

    Towing

Stew, I heard from Todd who sent me a great email and a ton of pictures including the ones you show above. Thanks for pointing all of this out. I am going to PM you about arranging a meet when you have yours so I can see it in person. I'll buy you a coffee or beer and we can share thoughts on...

    Towing

Does Todd have a website or something? I couldn't find anything. The name Rhino is primarily associated with hitch steps. And how does that work? How deep is it - in other words, how far in can my tow bar go? (I have a proprietary tow bar for my Hensley hitch.) Trailer looks nice, BTW...

    Towing

As roverman said. I actually leave that plastic cover off all the time as I tow fairly often and I need the plug for the electronics. I also use the recovery point loop to anchor the emergency brake for my trailer.

    Impressed with Towing (6600lbs)

Did it have "Gen 4" stamped on it? (How did you know it was Gen 4?)

    Impressed with Towing (6600lbs)

Ah, yes. Clearly your Jeep is better equipped for the "safari" and there will definitely be potential for it getting banged up. We don't do the difficult trails in Moab. And as for the safari we have scheduled our vacation (which will include a few days in Moab) to avoid that week. Moab will...

    Impressed with Towing (6600lbs)

5100 lbs dry. Around 6200 loaded. Tongue weight around 650. Hensley Cub hitch. Curt bolt on receiver. (Didn't trust the OEM receiver.) Tows great through the mountains of CO. Using the Curt hitch meant I can't put my spare underneath. That is pain. Tachyon, why tow a jeep when you...

    Showoff Your LR4

Looking nice and clean, David! These vehicles really do dress up nice even after being through some narly stuff - and if when loaded for bear like yours is.

    Hi-Lift Jack storage options?

Not much to add to this conversation as all points have been covered. I carry my Hi Lift on my roof rack. Yes, it adds weight. But, heck, I have my spare and 2 MaxTrax up there as well. I just need to be aware of branches, etc and off camber trails. Though I have the wheel lift attachment I...

    Land Rover Warn Winch Accessory

One of the guys on another thread here shared that there is a 2016.5 "mini-brochure" out or something like that and that they have a new kit brochure that has reintroduced the Warn Winch. I have been on the fence about a winch but if I do go with one I would like it to be the "hidden" type...

Difference between 2016 Landmark and 2016 HSE Lux ?

Nice color, Longhorn. And great choice of vehicle. I know the RR and RRS have more "luxury" and slightly more advanced features. But the LR4 has more useable seating and cargo room and there is nothing that can touch the configurability of the cargo area or, to be honest, the more classic and...

    Trailer Brake Module Options?

The dealer installed mine low and left. Not ideal as I need to lean over a fair bit if I want to engage it manually. But I have only needed to do that when setting up the controller. My controller needs to be "level" and there was no place to do that on the dash board.

    DC Snowzilla: Any Landy action?

LOL that you are disappointed you didn't have any snow to play in. So I thought I would share the following links on Winter Romp if you haven't seen them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhMuyklBIr8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qmISRUGD6U

Cargo Mat when using third rows

I have the OEM floor mats for the 3rd as I like to turn the rear of the LR4 into a workspace. They work fine though there may be less expensive options. I don't use a collapsable cargo carrier but I do have a couple of big cargo "tubs" with lids from the Container Store. One will fit...

    New LR4 owner - upgraded 4Runner

Awesome, Barry! If you haven't seen the vid below from LR celebrating the 25 anniversary of Discovery, check it out. There is so much this vehicle is capable of that most people don't realize. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtkxedlFSBY&app=desktop#t=173.550158204 BTW, you mentioned eco...

So I took my LR4 Off Roading.

Looks like a great time! It may have been a mess to wash but I'll bet the grin stayed on your face a lot longer than the mud was on your truck. ;-)

:ahhhhh: Looks good, Davidinseattle! Btw, we have a David-in-Seattle but he most certainly can't afford an Lr4 at this point. He's still a lowly and poor resident. ;-)

Had I wanted a permanent rack, I would have gone with a Prospeed. Very nice.

    roof rack

Lots of options. People may be able to be more specific with their suggestions if you can share some of your requirements or preferences. For example: - Permanent or temporary? (Many have permanent racks. I wanted it to be temporary so went with Yakima though it sits up higher.) - Short or...
