I really want to get out on to a trail, I have never done anything like this before. I don't count my snow experience or sand experience. What should I be taking with me? I have a couple of 2x20 recovery straps and 2x Warner 3/4" shackles. But those won't be much help on their own... -

Hi there. I have a "new to me" 2007 LR3 HSE. In a previous life it was owned by a Beverly Hills soccer mom.... I figured now I have this awesome LR3, I should try and do a little off roading with it. I have no gear and no idea, so here is the question: Any one around here feel like...- GSMblue

What wheels/ tires did you have? I think the LR3 rides really firm, but I like that. -

Last update. The plot thickens. I picked up Eleanor (my LR3!) today. She had her bushings and ball joints done ($1160). On the way home, I called up the 753 screen and the voltage was solid at 13.5. I give up! I will keep plodding along and worry about other things like my compressor! -

All thread starts need an end :) Just got back from the local independent dealer, they said the battery and alternator were fine. When I was driving home, the voltage as displayed by the 753 screen hack showed 13v and with the engine off it was 12.5v. I don't feel great, but they insist not... -
Ants in the cab
Get some Terro ant traps and put a few of in places you have seen the ants in the car, after a week there will be no more ants. Make sure you leave the traps there for a while up to 3 months The pricipal is they capture the scout ants so the rest never find out if there are delicious goodies in... -

Thanks! I have the LR3 booked in for 1pm at the the local independent LR specialist, lets see if they identify this as part of their inspection service. I presume a new alternator will be about $400 fitted, please let me know if I should prepare for something more $$$ :) -

UPDATE: I checked the battery, it is an interstate :) So I drove to the local store and they did a battery test, all checked out fine...12.45v, 989CCA BUT they detected a diode short :( Does this mean a new alternator???? Thanks for reading :) -

Thanks for the responses. Looks like I am on the right track. Is it worth investing in a charger? The LR3 is our second car and will only be used a couple of days a week. I will definitely switch out the battery, it is one of those things I do whenever I buy a used car! I can see a... -
