Epoxy Type Around Roof Rail Bolts

They are different types of "thread lock" made by Loctite. Here are some links to help you understand them. No idea what the black stuff is... http://www.henkelna.com/industrial/Loctite-Threadlockers-by-Color-14023.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thread-locking_fluid

    Wiper Blades

I am glad to hear it is not just me that is having this issue. The vales work pretty well, not been much rain here to test them though!

    "clunk" sources

I had something similar today, it was driving me crazy. Turns out it was a dog toy my wife left in the passenger door pocket.. This is why my wife is not allowed near the LR3 - she leaves her crap everywhere and I end up going crazy... I hope you solution is as simple as a bat shit crazy wife!

    Wiper Blades

Just switched out the silblades for Valeo 900. First impressions are good. The judder has stopped and the streak band has gone. But I know I have to drive with them for a bit to really know - when i first put the silblades on I was praising them for the first week... watch this space...

    Wiper Blades

I have ordered up the valeo 900, the squeaking of those expensive silblades was killing me!!!

    Wiper Blades

Oh, not sure if you all know or not, but the 08 model year wiper arms fit older LR3s and allow you to lift the wiper arms up. Make sure you use a puller to remove the old arms and a torque to install the news as they are a press fit onto the splines....

    Wiper Blades

When I had icons on my old expedition they were great, but on the LR3 I get bad contact - right in the drivers line of sight - and that horrible clunk!

Newbie test driving and hoping to join the club soon

I bought a 07 HSE with rear locker and 55k miles in Sep 2012 for $22k, but I knew it needed tires, alternator and compressor ($2.5k). So that price you mention is not ridiculous.

In the next renewal window I will :) I installed new wiper arms last month.... made a small improvement.

    Wiper Blades

This is the thing I hate most about my LR3! I have tried Bosh, RainX and now on Silblades. I just cannot get a good, consistent contact between the blade and the glass on the drivers side. I have tried a few deep cleaning products and it is getting better, I think all that LAX pollution built...

    windshield and wiper comments

So the part number for the ones I got are: Left: LR038124G Right: LR038124G They were $68.95 each from Atlantic British - they appear to be out of stock.. http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/LR038124G.cfm I also bought a "small gear puller" from the local parts store, It worked but bent itself...

What did you use to scratch it so bad? A polishing kit could help, here is a link to get you started... http://www.eastwood.com/pro-glass-polishing-kit.html

    windshield and wiper comments

It is that time of year when the rain is coming and I carry out some much needed visibility improvements on both my cars :) Maybe these comments will help others that have wiper issues. So, here we go: New wiper arms - the ones that actually lift off the windscreen! This will be great for...

New to me 2008 LR3 HSE

Freeman are indeed well respected, I am sure you will be looked after. Green Oval is the place to go, Doug and his team are great. We have some "teething" issues with our LR3, but Doug guided us through them and we have been happy as anything since getting it about a year ago! Looking forward...

New to me 2008 LR3 HSE

Which dealer was this? I am curious as I live in Portland (OR). If you need a good independent to work on your LR3 I (as can many others) recommend Green Oval Motors - owned and run by an ex LR Master tech.

    Sunroof? Leaking.

Removing the glass roof is not something I would want to do! If it has never been replaced it is unlikely to be your issue. The glass shop that ended up replacing mine tried to save it, but it broke in the process.

    Sunroof? Leaking.

I had a similar leak, turned out the glass roof was installed without enough sealant in the corners so water was getting in. Do you have the glass roof? Was it ever replaced? If I was you, do the normal drainage tube check/compressed air clean/upgrade to new style tubes before doing anything...
