lots of cranks to start up.

This has happened before, I actually think it just sort of went away - which has me thinking it has to do with the colder weather.... It can crank for one second, or 15 seconds before starting. It doesn't seem to make much difference whether the engine is warm or not - although I think it...

Just bought my first Land Rover....

I agree on the turn right around thing. As-is does not mean taped together until you leave the lot. Unless they explicitly said that this thing is going to be a nightmare and we won't cover anything, there should be some sort of reasonable expectation law that would cover you.

    Aqua Sports Carrier replacement parts

Have you tried calling them to see what their policy is on ripped open boxes and missing parts??

    Side vent replacement on LR4

I tried the LR3 method to the point I felt like I was going to break something so I quit. (pretty proud of myself, usually I keep going til it breaks) Interested as well....

how to make LR3 parking aid sounder/buzzer volume louder

Totally agreed. I like the LR4 a lot, but get really annoyed when things are changed for purely aesthetic reasons at the cost of functionality. The door cubbies are smaller, storage on the center stack is smaller, the 'sunglasses' ledge on the nav is gone, the rear storage cubbies are smaller...

Just bought a '11 LR4 HSE LUX (sort of)

Assuming they are the same as LR3s, I'd just look at the service records, especially for compressor/suspension and control arms. A dealer (I think) has to have good brakes on it, so that's probably not going to be an issue. I don't know if they have the same front wheel bearing issues - but...

Just bought a '11 LR4 HSE LUX (sort of)

For reference Benny, I paid $6k more for 3 years newer and 45,000 fewer miles. And that was from a dealership. Certified. Sounds high to me too.

Just bought a '11 LR4 HSE LUX (sort of)

I think 4x4 service is the transfer case. But yeah, all BS. Keep these things in mind to do sometime, at an independent service place.

    Lockwood Creek/Miller Jeep Trail

What's wrong with the tires? I have em and like them and have heard they rank very favorably with or beat others like the BFG. Just wondering. Sounds like an adventure HellPie, wish the pictures were showing up on my 'puter.

    LR3 Air intake problem

That's the EGR valve. Exhaust gases are rerouted through it. not sure about the level of the noise, but I'd say it's pretty normal.

    LR3 alternator replacement cost

I spent around $250. Depends on if you want OEM or new vs. rebuilt I guess, but $1300 is nuts. Was it gold plated?

    Let's talk offsets

For now, I'm going with 19" snow tires. (R2 SUV Nokian I think). That way I can put the rest of this off til spring! Thanks!

Help me find this stupid little part!!

What's there now, a stub or something? I'd love to see your 3d printed one, that stuff has always fascinated me. you should 'print' out a cool shape Like a tow hook shape or ....well...something cool. Crap, now I can't think of anything cool..

    No, I don't need gas!

It's an LR4. I said in first post I'm not bright enough to put it in the right forum, but it's kept going here.

    No, I don't need gas!

Yes, it's completely different, tacky as hell. It's literally a big orange gas tank icon. Higher on the display and like I said, looks like a huge graphic from a 30 year old video game. Not sure what was wrong with a small yellow light.... I'd just prefer it if they didn't have to nanny the...

    No, I don't need gas!

It wasn't a math error, but a fact error. I don't know why I had 24.2 gallon tank in my head. Anyway, 111 miles from the amber light (50, not 5) given 22.8 tank and 20mpg on the hwy. That's a long time to look at that ginormous bright orange gas tank light that looks like it was a stolen icon...

    Change Paint Colour on LR3

We're just talking amongst ourselves at this point, that guy is never coming back here! 200,000? That's great! I feel the same with mine. Since I got the LR4, I've been very wishy washy about selling the 3, and still drive it regularly. WAY fewer miles than you at 110k, but it's just too...

    Let's talk offsets

Right now I'm just trying to figure out my winter set. I could either get 19" winter tires, which don't have many options or suck it up and get the spacers and have more options with the 18" wheels that I already have (I really want to try 235mm tires this time). What I don't want to do is get...

    Let's talk offsets

Thank you. So I know that approx 30mm spacers are needed with stock wheels. And the Compos basically are like 9mm spacers. Why isn't the extra 21mm needed with the Compos? I don't get what you mean by spokes and alloy design matters. Thinner? Simplest cheapest rout is spacers, but just...

    Let's talk offsets

I've been considering the compomotives but have a question about the 'offset'. Truth is, I don't know what that really means. :albertein Will the wheel stick out farther than the stock rim? If so, how much? If it doesn't, how does this 18" rim fit and the LR 18" rim not?

    Any British Standard fasteners?

metric, with a torx here and there. WTH is british standard? Inches, right?

If true, that would be the most ridiculous reason I've yet to hear, thanks for the laugh!

Can Anyone Identify These LR4 Rock Sliders?

I kinda thought they were rover specialties - which aren't available anymore (I think)

    No, I don't need gas!

So next time are you going to have the guts to use the extra 3 gallons you had in there? There's no question that sooner or later if I ignore it and try to use the extra 5 gallons that I know is in there, that it's going to start working 'right' and screw me.
  25. R

    No, I don't need gas!

I'm tired of that monstrously tacky orange fuel pump light telling me I need gas. I ran down to '5 miles' to empty and still could only fit 18.9 gallons in last night. So, why on Earth does the warning come on when I still have 100-150 miles left? Stupid. And who's idea was it to switch from...
