After everything was said and done a supply problem with the XD wheels was discouraging enough I canceled the order and ordered Compomotive PD1881 wheels.
I'm rolling the dice and ordered the 18" XD Monsters with some BFG's from Discount tire today. They assured me they would fit. I'll post pictures if they do.
I uses Johnson Rods, but I still have 255/55R19 AT tires. As soon as I put the Johnson Rods on we did a 4 wheel alignment because of the independent suspension a lift changes the suspension geometry, but after the alignment it seems to do well on and off road. We're about to go to the...
I am also considering the Good Year just to get the extra sidewall. I even thought about going to a 20 inch rim and a 275/60R20 as this would give more sidewall and more ground clearance has anyone else put an oversized tire on a 20? This can be done for about $1000 less than ordering the 18"...
On paper it looks disappointing with the peak torque coming at 5000 rpm and peak hp coming at 6000 rpm not only does the powerband look narrow it's so high I would hesitate towing with it as we do with our current LR4
I think the only caveat to leaving the johnson rods on all of the time is you must get an alignment after you install the rods as they change the alignment
I have johnson rods installed all the time and frankly the high speed stability is still good for a 4x4. I think the extra ground clearance is worth what little difference in high speed stability or handling you may encounter. We removed the tow hook covers (and that silly cargo cover) as well
We change the oil and rotate the tires every 5000 miles going 7500+ miles will certainly get the car through the powertrain warranty period, but I sure wouldn't want to own the car 7+ years down the road if the oil had only been changed every 15000 miles

Welcome to Dallas. That's Barnwell Mountain just east of Gilmer (about 1 1/2 hours east of Dallas. The Texas Rovers have a dedicated rover camp out there. You'll need to come with us next time we head out there. Check texasrovers.com for our event calendar
The scariest part of installing the short roof rails is cutting the drip rail. The instructions are fairly good, and the cut does no need to be perfect as the overlap with the short roof rails will cover any sloppiness
We purchased ours new and purchased a 7 year extended service contract with it. I'm expecting it to last the 7 years without significant issues. Most new cars will last as long as you maintain them on a consistent basis. I am not following the factories recommended maintenance schedule...
Thanks! Even though the rain had let up some I didn't want to get my camera out in it, so I ended up using my cell for the picture, which isn't the best quality but you made it look much better!
Those are the same 2 vehicles we had narrowed our search down to. The space in the LR4 is much better and was one of the primary reasons we chose the LR4. Since purchasing we are extremely happy not only is the space in the vehicle much better but the off road capabilities are outstanding and...
