    Oversize tires for 2020 Defender

Broader appeal is the reason for offering the choice in wheels. Honestly it’s all a moot point when they do offer an 18” wheel. Maybe you can’t get that in the package you want, but the option is there and you can likely mod your package to the smaller brakes. My point about the Toyota lift is...

    Oversize tires for 2020 Defender

If you read up on anyone who has talked to the engineers about the Defender, it’s clear that they did intend for this to be an off road vehicle. They clearly wanted the braking performance to be there from the factory. I don’t see any reason that the smaller brakes won’t fit, just like the LR3...

Thoughts on 2021 Bronco as LR4 replacement?

I’m sure the aftermarket will end up very different, but what features are defender owners bemoaning? Front locker and a disconnectable sway bar? Ok, those are great if you’re rock crawling. Not really what the Defender is meant for. I’ve been through Capitol Reef several times in my 3, but...

Thoughts on 2021 Bronco as LR4 replacement?

The modern ecoboost has way more power than the ‘76 Bronco I owned.

Thoughts on 2021 Bronco as LR4 replacement?

I was curious about what “class” it’s in since everything was claimed best in class. They also claimed to be the first SUV. Even if you don’t count the first Jeeps and LRs, the International Scout still beat them by 5 years.

Thoughts on 2021 Bronco as LR4 replacement?

I have zero interest in buying another Ford. It’s cool to see them trying to actually make it have off road capability and that only helps the industry. I’m definitely over the retro styling trend. The Camaro was cool when it was reintroduced, but come on. Now we’ve got the mustang, charger...

    Exhaust opinion?

There’s definitely a fine line for me. I love the way that SVR sounds, or the way the AMG’s always have that low growl that lets you know there’s power without being obnoxious. I was surprised at how much that first video snapped off throttle given the rear resonators were left in. It reminded...

    LR3 from stock to Overlandish?

Subscribed! I was thinking of doing the exact same thing on my roof. I’ve been throwing around the idea of vinyl because I don’t have anywhere to paint indoors. I hope you have better luck with lucky8 than I have. I really wanted them be my “go to” because they seem to have all the goodies I...

Tell an LR4 guy how to love that Defender rear door?

Yeah, and we’ve all seen you can add a swing out to the LR3/4. But now you’ve got a 3 step process to fully open the rear door. I liked the swing door on our D2. I didn’t have a problem opening it in our garage.

Leaving the hood / bonnet open overnight for rats.

Cats don’t keep rodents away? That’s news to me.

    Help fitting Terrafirma rock sliders

Truth! There was a phase where people were powder coating the airframe on small aircraft until they found out the tubing could completely rust away with almost no outside evidence. The powder coating was so hard it would hold the shape we’ll enough to pass annual inspection until it would all of...

Want to build my own Roof Rack

Just playing a little devils advocate here, your opinion is your opinion. But why not build what you can build reasonably and apply the saved funds for something that you might not be able to build? I can build a roof rack, I can’t pull off building sliders.

    Lr3 fault issues

So, people can throw out ideas and one of them may be the answer, many will not be. The reason to get the Land Rover specific scan tool (I have the Gap Diagnostics tool which I whole heartedly endorse) is that it will give you the specific codes to track it down. I had the same symptoms you did...

    LR 4 Retired

I don’t know how similar they are, but I hope the 4 Runner isn’t as unreliable as the new Tacoma or you’ll be sorely disappointed. I have a friend who just returned his brand new one to the dealer and said nope! He got a tundra instead and loves it, but the tacos are not living up to the magical...

Want to build my own Roof Rack

Well, I didn’t get billed for my time, so it was free! I get what you’re saying and if you had said something like usually “instead” of “guarantee” I probably would have left it alone. I my case, even if I account for my time, it was still cheaper. Was it worth it to not have a name brand...

Want to build my own Roof Rack

Thanks, I appreciate that. I also installed a harbor freight winch plate hidden in the front bumper. I stole that idea from an LR4 owner who had a pretty good write up on it. Use your favorite search engine to find “lr4 harbor freight winch mount” and you should find it pretty easy. Here’s a pic...

Want to build my own Roof Rack

I’m buying parts to build my own dual arm spare tire carrier. I will be sure to use plenty of S.W.A.G. engineering though, so it’ll be ok.

Want to build my own Roof Rack

Simply not true. I’ve done it, maybe cost me a couple hundred bucks. It has thousands of miles with lots of gear (33” spare, 3 Plano boxes, tepui RRT) on top and it’s held up just fine. Should everybody do it? No, but let’s not make blanket statements that aren’t true.

Yeah, I’ve seen the posts and read a most of them. It’s obvious he’s excited. I’ve been there, haven’t you? I’m the kind of person who exhausts the internet search bar first, but not everyone is. Taking a cheaper route is not a necessarily a shortcut, even though that seems to be the consensus...

    Lr3 fault issues

You need to buy a Gap Tool or equivalent to read the codes. There are way too many variables for people to even start to try to help. Houm_WA, still no people skills?

Want to build my own Roof Rack

Both of you take a deep breath. He bought a new vehicle and is excited to get from start to finish. Not everyone has bottomless pocket or the desire to use plastic to get there. Also, some people enjoy the built not bought approach, though that’s typically in the four letter J-word community...

Want to build my own Roof Rack

Here’s what I did on my LR3. It’s not quite as refined as commercially made rack, but I think it’s good enough to not look home made. It’s way better than the basket on load bars so many people have on various vehicle in my area. The fairing is essential as it helps finish the look and cuts WAY...
