Battery went dead, anything to watch for settings wise?

When I changed my battery the only thing I recall needing reset was the clock. Radio presets remained but when you first turn it on it will not go back to the last station it was on - it will go to 87.9 and most likely be static. The mpg/trip counter settings were erased...

LR4 parked most of the time lately, any harm?

We have had various summer convertibles for years and they sit all winter from November until April. I keep a trickle charger on them and fire them up perhaps 2-3 times during that span to keep the fluids moving and remove the flat spots (I have not bothered with stands or maxing out the PSI in...

Is a d5 a great deal right now?

Case in point, my dealer now has 25 demos with CPO warranties. I am pretty sure no dealer ever needs 25 demos, especially since they tell me there are "none available" every time I have been there.

    L319 vs. L462...

I guess vanity still rules then, despite being the "perfect wife" of a car, people must still want to be seen with the blonde bombshell when they are out in public because the D5 is not selling at the levels its performance would justify. Or it's too expensive for the segment. Or both I guess.

    Pondering an LR4 - Question

I have an 08 LR3 and an 08 HSE RR as well and I have been running 87 (but always top-tier gas) with no issues for 2 years. I ran premium for the first 3 years and finally decided to see for myself when gas spiked locally and was as much as $0.70/gal more for 93 versus 87. Gas mileage has not...

Tires. Michelin Defender LTX M/S vs Bridgestone Dueller H/L Alenza plus

All I can tell you is that when we bought our 08 RR it had brand new Duelers on them and we took them off within a month. To me the look was a little passé (on a FFRR anyway), to my wife they were not meant to handle spirited driving. I will say they were quiet and comfortable - so if you are...

Whining from the engine Whats going on? What part do I need to replace?

A worn belt and/or pulley or a failing alternator will often make high pitch whines - you might check those. I am not sure if the whine and oil are related, you may have 2 distinct issues.

Is a d5 a great deal right now?

Those are GLOBAL numbers. Fiscal year April 2017-March 2018 LR sold 46,472 D5's. With 2 months to report in this cycle they look like they will be falling short, so far they are at 34,155 and I do not see 2 big months coming their way. For those interested, the figures are all posted here...

Is a d5 a great deal right now?

To me the D5 is a mainstream car with an exclusive car price. Sales are about what the D4 were, but of course, that was not the goal when making a more mainsteam vehicle - LR simply swapped niche markets. Feb global sales are not in yet, but this is Jan, someone somewhere must have been really...

Is a d5 a great deal right now?

Back when the LR4's were selling very slowly (2011-2013), there were a lot of Demo's for sale just like these 18 D5's. In fact my local dealer almost never had a new one in stock, but always had 2-3 "used demos" with 1k-3k miles and the CPO extended warranty. I think they figured out it was a...

    300k mile club

At that mileage, I am sure there are several sets of tires in that 37k+6k as well. I have spent just under $15k on my LR3 over 5 years and 65,000 miles and that is at an indy shop.

Is a d5 a great deal right now?

I agree with previous posts, which is why we have both and 08 RR and an 08 LR3, best of both worlds. It took until just now (and the timing chain issues of the 10-12 RR) that my wife is "ok" looking at newer RR's. Still when it snows, she takes my LR3 because she feels safer in it....

2014 Land Rover Range Rover HSE - USED A GOOD CAR?

I think that price is WAY too high, even if it is a dealer. I find that the "finance advance" price is a good deal to shoot for in most cases, but even $45,000 at a dealer would be ok if you like the car. Their "our price is so great it's no haggle" stuff is baloney. As for the car itself...

    5.0L Natural vs Supercharged

For a hair less you can get one that is fully rebuilt, clean as new. Still a lot of money if you can do this work yourself. I do not know the answer to your original question, but I am sure Roverland can answer as they rebuild them. If you call them and discuss options you may be able to...

    Another Defender hint?

I saw this photo this morning - I hope they keep the Stop and Go pedals. The shifter position up on the dash works for me, but it does seem a bit close to the touch-screen for someone with big hands or wearing thick gloves. I can see it getting bumped a lot and having the screen activate...

    LR5 Release Updates?

So, this is what they say is the new Defender, looks different for sure if it is legit! The shifter looks a bit close to the center console touch-screen, especially if you are wearing heavy gloves. I like the STOP and GO on the pedals, hope they keep that!

Paint C-Pillar Black & Center Rear License Plate

I know Umbertob posted a link for a mod to center the rear license plate on a D5 a long time ago. I am not sure if anyone has actually done it - I do not recall anyone posting it here anyway. Painting is always an easy way to make a difference though - there should be refresh for next year -...

Air suspension & fuel rail - 2008 Range Rover HSE 4.4L

Arnott makes good ones: you can look here and search for pricing based on what you need. Bilstein has some as well. Here is price on the rail - you can compare to what the shop is charging for it to determine how much labor they are estimating... I did not see a part number for the pressure...

    Disco 5 Shifter Conversion

For me it has to do with feel, having driven manuals for the first 20 years of my driving, I like having something to put my hand on when driving, plus I think it would be easier to pull up, pop into neutral for a moment while coasting to a stop and then pop it into reverse right at the dead...

    265 65 R18 Firestone Destination AT

Try reverse at full clock in access height and see if they rub a hair. Most 265/65/18 do, but it can depend on the specific tire. I ended up going with 265/60/18 tires because I back into my driveway everyday and often have it in access height as I back in so I can better let...

    Opinions please (Non-Technical)

I've seen this a good bit, especially when it snows before the Holidays and people are out shopping in full force and spaces are at a premium! I am always afraid to leave it for hours on end in such an extended fashion - anyone ever have any issues from this???

    RR 2012 Clicking Sound

There are tons of posts on the timing chain topic, most in the LR4 forum - bottom line, the full repair can be as much as $7500 at a dealer, and as little as $3500-$4000 at an independent shop. You just need to make sure whoever is doing the work for you has done it before - it's not ideal to...
