Battery went dead, anything to watch for settings wise?
When I changed my battery the only thing I recall needing reset was the clock. Radio presets remained but when you first turn it on it will not go back to the last station it was on - it will go to 87.9 and most likely be static. The mpg/trip counter settings were erased... -

Case in point, my dealer now has 25 demos with CPO warranties. I am pretty sure no dealer ever needs 25 demos, especially since they tell me there are "none available" every time I have been there. -

I guess vanity still rules then, despite being the "perfect wife" of a car, people must still want to be seen with the blonde bombshell when they are out in public because the D5 is not selling at the levels its performance would justify. I have an 08 LR3 and an 08 HSE RR as well and I have been running 87 (but always top-tier gas) with no issues for 2 years. I ran premium for the first 3 years and finally decided to see for myself when gas spiked locally and was as much as $0.70/gal more for 93 versus 87. Gas mileage has not... -

Whining from the engine Whats going on? What part do I need to replace?
A worn belt and/or pulley or a failing alternator will often make high pitch whines - you might check those. I am not sure if the whine and oil are related, you may have 2 distinct issues. -

At that mileage, I am sure there are several sets of tires in that 37k+6k as well. I have spent just under $15k on my LR3 over 5 years and 65,000 miles and that is at an indy shop. -

I agree with previous posts, which is why we have both and 08 RR and an 08 LR3, best of both worlds. It took until just now (and the timing chain issues of the 10-12 RR) that my wife is "ok" looking at newer RR's. Still when it snows, she takes my LR3 because she feels safer in it.... -

I think that price is WAY too high, even if it is a dealer. I find that the "finance advance" price is a good deal to shoot for in most cases, but even $45,000 at a dealer would be ok if you like the car. Another Defender hint?
I saw this photo this morning - I hope they keep the Stop and Go pedals. The shifter position up on the dash works for me, but it does seem a bit close to the touch-screen for someone with big hands or wearing thick gloves. I can see it getting bumped a lot and having the screen activate... -
LR5 Release Updates?
So, this is what they say is the new Defender, looks different for sure if it is legit! The shifter looks a bit close to the center console touch-screen, especially if you are wearing heavy gloves. I like the STOP and GO on the pedals, hope they keep that!- catman

I know Umbertob posted a link for a mod to center the rear license plate on a D5 a long time ago. I am not sure if anyone has actually done it - I do not recall anyone posting it here anyway. For me it has to do with feel, having driven manuals for the first 20 years of my driving, I like having something to put my hand on when driving, plus I think it would be easier to pull up, pop into neutral for a moment while coasting to a stop and then pop it into reverse right at the dead...- catman

Try reverse at full clock in access height and see if they rub a hair. Most 265/65/18 do, but it can depend on the specific tire. I ended up going with 265/60/18 tires because I back into my driveway everyday and often have it in access height as I back in so I can better let... -

There are tons of posts on the timing chain topic, most in the LR4 forum - bottom line, the full repair can be as much as $7500 at a dealer, and as little as $3500-$4000 at an independent shop.
