Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

******* mice I think! Engine hood sound deadener "blanket" loose at one end. I patted it and a peanut shell came out??? I had assumed the inlet manifold had a perimeter gasket. Obvs just individual gaskets around each port and open at back end four mouse entry.

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

Prior to taking the inlet manifold off there was no sign of coolant along its outside perimeter where the 5 bolts attach it on each side. I did spray gentle hose water in that area on both sides as there was lots of sand, mouse crap etc. Then washed area with soap before re-rinsing and letting...

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

Yes, suprised the throttle body had a coolant hose going to it. Front surface of throttle body clean. Rear surface greasy. It just handles air so you would expect it to be clean allround, right? Maybe leaking coolant was seeping into the throttle body via the mating surface where it joins to...

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

Piece of cake so far! Waiting for 1/4" torx socket to arrive so I can tackle the rear heater manifold pipe, plus need to order parts

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

Well, intake manifold off and front crossover pipe removed. Coolant visible on either side more towards front so I am thinking the front crossover is the culprit. No signs of cracking in it. O ring seals at the V end look a bit flattened, so maybe leak from there. Coolant present on mating...

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

Thanks...... appreciate your thoughts. The plenum is the intake manifold, right? I assume it has a gasket that should be replaced?

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

You mean the front crossover pipe. I should replace the rear one too I presume. Do you know the name / part # for the rear one? They are both plastic and prone to cracking right.

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

Hey, thanks for your thoughtful reply. Done over 100 miles so defo a new leak. Yes, initially they said maybe air burping out. They used new seals, and they do good work, have used them for years. I also wondered if maybe seals got damaged when they installed the new water pump and pipe. Sounds...

which power steering fluid for 2010 LR4?

Hi, The service manual says Texaco Cold Climate PAS fluid 14315 (in Canada). I have also seen GM Part No. 12345866 (32 oz.) or GM Part No. 12345867 (16 oz.), Spec. 9985835 being listed as equivalent (AC Delco). Can anyone kindly confirm a non-dealer brand that is readily available. Thanks!

    2010 LR4 brake bleed question

I read somewhere that bleeding brakes on an LR4 requires the engine to be running (something to do with the brake power booster) - correct, or is that not necessary. Anything else I should know beyond bleed from farthest location to nearest? Thanks in advance!

75k mile service - diff and transfer case fluid change

Ended up getting my mechanic to do the tranny fluid and filter change using the AB kit. Old fluid not too nasty looking. Did front and rear diff oil changes myself today. Plugs came out fine and oil looked new! Transfer case only had a litre in it (leaking a bit) and old fluid was brown. Now...

75k mile service - diff and transfer case fluid change

Can anyone kindly clarify oil volumes for front and rear diff and Tcase? Some say to oil filler plug level and others say an exact volume is required and to fill plug level is over filling. Owners handbook states approx. total capacity but then says use precise volume. Not v helpful. Thanks!

75k mile service - diff and transfer case fluid change

Thanks for your replies. Regarding fluids for tranny, diffs and transfer case - Fancy $$ fluids required from dealer or Atlantic British or the like, or are there alternative aftermarket options?

75k mile service - diff and transfer case fluid change

Yeah, underside pretty rusty. Tranny fluid change recommended every 10 yrs i.e. next year, but probably better doing sooner rather than later. Thanks!

75k mile service - diff and transfer case fluid change

Guys, Just contemplating the 75k mile service on my 2010 LR4. Beyond the aggravation of having to buy exorbitantly priced fluids from wherever, I though I would reach out re. ease of doing fluid changes on rear diff and transfer case. Obvs easy enough, but I am in Toronto and we have salty...

WHAT WOULD YOU DO!? BUYING MY FIRST LR4...

Alan, I am in Toronto and bought my 2010 LR4 HSE 12 months ago, 105k km when I bought it and engine had been replaced under warranty by LR. At the time I chatted it over with my mechanic (who had also owned a 2010 from new). His advice was 2010 or 2011 was the sweetspot as after that the...

2011 LR4 spare tire low pressure warning light

So this annoyance is very Saab-esque in nature: 3 weeks ago had to put the spare tire on due to a slow puncture in my left front. Upon extracting it from beneath the back of the car it only had 20lbs of pressure in it (not unexpected). After I got the regular tire/wheel put back on, I found...

    Brake judder - causes?

So..............Did the front brakes myself, although the rotor screws resisted all efforts, so I ended up drilling them out. End result = judder much diminished, but still there.............wtf???? Took it to my mechanic who diagnosed warped rear rotor(s).........another wtf??? as rears have a...

    Another tire/wheel thread: 19" vs 18"

I have a 2011 LR4 and ordered 18 inch winter trims to give me greater sidewall depth for snow. The 18 inch alloys would not fit as they fouled the brake caliper. Am I missing something on this 18in vs. 19in discussion?£

2011, 66k miles, flat battery issues

Oh interesting discussion re. tailgate actuator. The first time I used it my thought was "that's a part that's destined to fail and cost $$$". Mine intermittently won't open. If I press down hard on the tailgate as I operate the button it seems to free it up and it opens, so maybe an alignment...
