Front LCA replacement - ball joint separation

Guys, thanks for your thoughts. Yes, got a pickle fork just in case! Britpart does a good vid on LCA replacement. They just whacked the knuckle with a hammer to release the ball joint, but prefer to have a back up plan! gather on early range rovers you need to unseat front drive shafts from...

Front LCA replacement - ball joint separation

2010 LR4 - planning to do front LCA bushings using new LCA's. Just wondering whether separating the ball joint by whacking the steering knuckle with a hammer is a reliable method of separating the ball joint, or should I get a ball joint tool / pickle fork - if so, any thoughts on tool size...

    P2019A error code

Reading the GAP IID FAQ sections on their website................. they state: "Keep in mind that a Land Rover without any fault codes doesn’t exist". :)

Thank you! Am pondering GAP IID tool.........how long do I want to keep the car vs. how long till my wife kicks up hell and wants a replacement :)

    P2019A error code

I looked at the GAP IID tool online today. Are you referring to the 'pro' model or the standard model? Pro was I recall over $2k, whereas the standard model at $700 was affordable. Thanks a ton for you your thoughtful response! So Bank 1 is passenger side and bank 2 is drivers side - correct...

    P2019A error code

I wrote it down as P0219A and of course then cleared the code. The OBDI scanner identified it as generic 'manufacture control', whatever that means. I had a P219A before when I was dealing with the MAF, so assumed the same code as they have similar numbers. Now I am not sure, as P0219 is intake...

    P2019A error code

2010 5.0L, 90k miles. So.........had a few error codes recently for MAF, throttle position etc. Replaced one MAF sensor and MAF codes appear to be resolved. Just did 300 mile error free trip. Now P219A fuel air imbalance has come up. Had this previously along with MAF code. Research indicates...

    Air suspension reliability?

Regarding signs that air springs need replacing? My 2010 (90k miles) dips at the front when doing gentle bumper to bumper start-stopping in traffic. The front pops right up again, with no bouncing oscillations as per normal shock signs of wear. Owned it for 4yrs - can't remember if it has always...

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

When the garage did the water pump I questioned whether to do thermostat too. They said don't bother. Will bear in mind if leak returns

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

Success! I had only partially reconnected the MAP sensor plug. Clicked it on whole way and CEL gone.... hopefully not to reappear

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

Hhhhmmm....... did clean the inside of the throttle body. Its funny though, only P0106 manifold absolute before I fixed the coolant leak. Now P0069, P0208 and P0106 all manifold pressure related, plus the TPS error code. Codes triggered as soon as I started the car. Will double check MAP sensor...

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

Yes there is a MAP sensor. I believe I plugged it back in. If code returns will double check its connected properly. Was having MAF codes before coolant leak. Initially came on then disappeared on its own a day later. Went on like this for a couple of months before becoming more persistent...

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

Agree with the fix issue plus PM approach. The crossover pipe seals looked flattened, think it was leaking from there as coolant in the valley between the two banks towards the front end. Also replaced rear heater manifold (same crappy plastic), and the flexible hose that runs under the intake...

    Bleeding coolant woes...... help needed!

Thanks! It has the one in your 2nd pic towards the back of the engine, one on the crossover pipe and on the expansion tank. Yet to find one on any pipes near the radiator.

    Bleeding coolant woes...... help needed!

Guys, thanks! Had a look and can't see anything looking like a bleed valve on tube leaving radiator or on pipes near firewall? Any further details to help me ID them much appreciated?

    Bleeding coolant woes...... help needed!

Just replaced crossover pipe and heater manifold pipe. Now I am having a hell of a time trying to bleed the system. Did not add coolant to front crossover pipe via bleed valve = mistake. Did raise front hose off crossover and added as much coolant as I could before reconnecting. Have expansion...

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

Ahhhhh......... now I see where the oil cooler pipe sits. Unfortunately wet down there from coolant loss when I removed the crossover pipe. No obvs signs that its leaking. Will bear that in mind if leak persists after I put everything back together

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

The staining on throttle body butterfly valve inner surface and in inlet ports is greasy and had a bit of an oily smell so maybe oil from PCV as you say. Replace PCV valve? So maybe leave replacing throttle body for now. If leak continues after replacing other stuff can always revisit
