    Coolant Leak

yes, most auto parts stores have them for “rent”. You basically pay a deposit for the tool then when you return it they give you your money back. Not sure how it works in Germany though. I’m in the states

    Coolant Leak

pressure test it. Look for leaks when it’s not hot. You’ll find the leak... when the engine is hot, the heat will evaporate the coolant sometimes. With a pressure test, you can see and or hear the leak...it’s the best way I know how. my lr4 was leaking off the back inlet manifold (back...

2014 LR4 - "system too lean" fault codes

I’m now getting banks one and two too lean. P0171 and P0174. Getting ready to change out PCV. Hoping that’s it. I have a voltage reading on bank one maf sensor of -30v which seems odd. The maf sensor is not throwing any codes. Bank two is reading at 1.5v. Anyone that can verify those readings...

    P0171 and P0174 banks 1 & 2 too lean

Hey all, I got a p0171 an p0174 banks 1&2 too lean. I’m guessing vacuum leak. I just changed my oil two days ago. I’ve heard of the o-ring failing on the oil cap (mine was pretty grimy). I’m also suspecting it’s time for new pcv on the valve cover. what’s puzzling me is when I checked...

    PO 171 & 174 Codes (Lean Banks 1 & 2)

Alright, I just got bank one and two system too lean. Anyone have insights? Checking voltages on 02 sensors and they seem fine. The mass airflow sensors are showing a -30 v on bank 1 and 1.5v on bank 2. Is the bank 1 mass airflow sensor my culprit?

mine are amazing in the rain.

Engine revs high upon start up

I’ve been tempted to do mine preventatively and now I’m convinced. This is the second truck I’ve heard of recently that had one of the pcv valves fail around that mileage.

Engine revs high upon start up

Too high, agreed. You do have a CEL on. What are the codes?

Engine revs high upon start up

I do. Mine has been revving slightly higher recently (about the same as yours) but it quiets down after about 3-5 seconds. I have 125 on the clock. I was thinking it is likely time for injectors (got the truck at 115k and the PO didn’t do injectors as far as I know). I’d be interested if...

Change out differential and transfer case fluids

That’d be my approach. It’d be worth replacing them with a bit more time and mileage. That fluid should be replaced at about 70k, especially if you do some towing.

Change out differential and transfer case fluids

That’s a toss up. I’d say you’re probably good for another 60k miles at least on the sleeves and valve body. Seems like you’re doing a more aggressive service schedule so if you’ll be in there in another 40k, I’d say no. Your transmission is probably due for its first oil swap and new filter...

    Key fob pealing

I used gorilla glue (the crazy glue kind) and it’s held pretty well. I like the fob also- feels solid, like the truck. If it held oil though I’m sure it would leak like a mofo.

    2010 LR4 transmission fault

I’m looking at your rpms at 80mph. That’s high to have them running at 4000. Do they increase significantly when it faults? Is that when it’s between gears? Are you sure it’s 3-4? Doing 85-90 mph, I’d assume you’re in 5-6th (1st gear is very short). Is it giving you a code incorrect gear...

    2011 LR4 HSE V8 hesitated, stalled, won’t restart...

it still turns over? Clear codes and see what comes back first. I’d start with simple and go to more complex. If it’s turning over but not starting, I’d start with fuel delivery. If I recall, you had some fuel pump codes listed first. (Edit, yes, you have two permanent codes with fuel pump)...

    2011 LR4 HSE V8 hesitated, stalled, won’t restart...

Hmmm. That looks to possibly be electrical to me. Because these are fly by wire, you get some wacky codes when the truck has low voltage. Usually it’s a bunch of unrelated codes....what’s the alternator putting out? Give the battery a good charge and see if it’ll run right. May just be a bad...

Is it possible to remove the middle seat

We just pull our lr4 seat down to the lower position (it folds down and then drops forward and down by about 6 inches). This alternative makes pass through incredibly easy for the kids, and also doesn’t sacrifice the middle seat in case we need it.

    2011 LR4 HSE V8 hesitated, stalled, won’t restart...

It’s possible, for sure. Hopefully you’ve got some codes when you read the computer Tuesday. If not Cam position sensor might be a good place and inexpensive place to start. Let us know what the codes are. Collective community should be able to help you out.

100,000+ miles. Out of warranty. Time to trade?

Sell it to me...all kidding aside, I’m keeping mine- @128k. Known issues with these are water pump, crossover, and timing chain. I say, do a water pump and crossover. Keep oil intervals at 5000 miles. Should be good to go for another 100k.

sucking air between engine and transmission

I too would think failed ccv. I would avoid any type of sealing. That gap between bell housing and engine is there for a reason- my guess is to drain water ingress to the torque converter on wading...or when your rear main seal gives up the ghost, oil... Sealing it without finding the cause of...

Any other car brand wheels fit the LR4 ?

There’s a set here in charlotte that are cheap. I just got one of 5 for a spare. $175 a piece. I bet they’d work with you on price for all 4. They’ve got almost new terrain contacts on them now https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/565206873887484/

    2011 LR4 HSE V8 hesitated, stalled, won’t restart...

Let’s not scare the guy. Engine would have likely sounded like a diesel first and that much slack might have thrown codes prior to skipping a link. I’m rooting for something far simpler!

    2011 LR4 HSE V8 hesitated, stalled, won’t restart...

Sounds good! Keep us updated on what happens. On the intervals, the only reports I’ve heard on timing chain issues are due to longer intervals. That’s the only reason I give it a mention. You have the older design tensioners (unless you’ve had timing chain addressed). It’s not a cheap repair...

    2011 LR4 HSE V8 hesitated, stalled, won’t restart...

Only thing I’d change here is your intervals. I’d move to 5-7500 to avoid any timing tensioner wear. Ounce of prevention. I know it didn’t throw a code with cel light, but often there will be pending codes. Since this happened quickly, I’d guess your codes are pending. Sounds like fuel...

    2011 LR4 HSE V8 hesitated, stalled, won’t restart...

I’d be surprised if that caused the issue, but don’t know. No other issues or recent work, idling issues prior, codes that were not addressed (seemed to clear on own)? Any other history you can fill us in on? My suspicion is a fuel pump but my understanding is they usually don’t fail that...
