My 2012 LR4 issues, need some advise.

If you have even the slightest tech ability (like you can hang a picture straight on a wall), you can do the brakes on this thing. At 37,000 you don't need to replace the rotors, even if they are a little worn. If you are nervous about the rotors, just put a micrometer on them to make sure they...

    LR4 to Disco 5

I'm glad you like it. For me, it's just a poor physical representation of a vehicle, much less an LR. I'm not even saying "compared to the LR4", it's just not a very good looking vehicle. The rear looks like it was smashed in and lifted in the air and the front is so pedestrian, you could...

    Another Defender hint?

the 130 is 10" longer than the LR4. That puts it at about Tahoe length (204" vs 201"). two things I hope they do with the 130: 1) 2nd row captains chairs or the ability to remove the middle seat in the 2nd row. I can't tell you how many friends I have who had the second row captains as a much...

    Another Defender hint?

uh, no. They would be testing it in near production mode at this time, not a mule version.

    Transmission swap

Here is what I recommend. This is access to Mitchell 1 Pro demand repair manuals. They have all the info you need. Mitchell 1 is a Snap On owned company and they are the largest indy repair shop management system out there. Their repair manuals use to the the old Mitchell Repair manuals. Of...

    Transmission swap

We looked at the G-Wagon as a replacement. No 3rd row seat and the person(s) who designed the instrument panel should be beaten silly. As I mentioned on another thread, we ending up buying an extended service plan giving us another 5 years with our LR4. Wife's happy and don't have to stuff three...

    Another Defender hint?

Yeah those are definitely inserts underneath the wrap to disguise the body lines. Assuming they have them inserted under the wrap on the front too. My biggest concern is still its size. It looks a bit small and short and baby LR4 ish. Like it is geared towards entry level buyers.

    Another Defender hint?

Maybe it's the angle of the photo, but given that good old harry is 6'1" (according to google), this thing doesn't look that tall. Uh, looking more like disco sport but square. Looks like I'll just have to prepare myself now and start taking night classes to become an LR4 master tech.

    Another Defender hint?

Oh, BTW, the F&I manager said most LR4 owners that come in looking at the Discovery walk about with an extended plan on their LR4. Said lots of LR4 owners waiting to see what the Defender is going to offer.

    Another Defender hint?

just finished at the dealership. 5 more years of coverage. Wife only drives 7000 miles a year. Zero deductible comprehensive coverage. I interviewed the SM and SA at the dealer and they all said that working with First Automotive was just the same as working with the factory backed plan through...

    Should I take the plunge?

please, do not use those words again to describe anything associated with your Land Rover. Seriously, it should be grounds for a permanent ban.

    Should I take the plunge?

eco mode not available is a good thing. That means your crappy a$$ start stop is not working because the flashlight battery they put in it is dead. So. congrats, you don't have to keep switching it off every time you drive it. When we service our landy, we have to tell them "do not fix the eco...

    Another Defender hint?

well, our LR4 goes off warranty tomorrow. Since there are no comparable vehicles that my wife would even consider driving, my dealer has graciously offered to put another 5 years and 42,500 miles worth of extended warranty on her for the kings ransom of $3995 OTD and I am thrilled. That's a sad...

Any experience with First Automotive aka Southwestre aftermarket warranty.

Hi all, I am going to purchase an aftermarket warranty as we'll be naked in a couple of days. Land Rover of Tacoma uses First Automotive which is under Southwestre. Anyone have any experience here? I've read some online reviews and am not impressed. Thanks

$1,200 shipping bill for roof rack.

this is a good lesson however. If you are buying something that is going to be a lot for shipping, make sure you print out that shipping is included and make sure you are dealing with a reputable company that has been around for a while. As has been pointed out, if the shipper is not paid, the...

    Indy Shop near Bellevue, WA?

hey all, We've got about 4 months of factory warranty left on our 2015 LR4 lux. Would love to find a great indy shop to go over our rig with a fine tooth comb before the warranty runs out. Wife has informed me that I will be in divorce court if I try to get her out of this vehicle and into...

    Tire Wear

for real bro? Are you driving that thing on two wheels and rotating every 5000 miles b/c that would equal about what I got on mine which was 25000 of very light driving (my wifes car). Granted, we got he Conti's as stock tires which were the same tires on my Cayenne S which lasted about 10000...

totally acceptable in a Land Rover. Totally embarrassing in an Explorer, Highlander or other similar vehicles.

    Disco 5 Shifter Conversion

Really? I appear to be in the minority. I love not having the stick in the counsule. Not like it's hooked up to anything and they just take up space. The dial gives a nice level, clean line that looks uncluttered and you're not knocking your coffee into the darn thing or whatever. My super...

    Disabling 2014 ECO Switch

2015 LR4 Lux with 24000 miles. STop Star worked for about two days a few years back, and has not worked since. About 6 months ago, our eco warning light came on and has mostly stayed on (90%) of the time. It's due for it's yearly oil change, so I'll ask the dealer in a few weeks. Didn't like...

LR has had my LR4 for 3 MONTHS!

It means the dealer sold it to you. They were the selling dealer. Obviously, the idea is that people who buy it from the servicing dealer get more perks. Maybe a loaner, free car was, whatever.
