Can a 2013 LR4 be upgraded to Heavy Duty?

You might hate me for this but when I bought my 2013 two years ago, I had no idea it was an HD. I knew what the HD package was but never bothered looking for one and figured I'd be OK without it. The owner included the window sticker and I looked at it 3 days after I bought it and oh hey, HD...

LR4 Newbie - We have problems!

As others mentioned - water pump and/or either of the crossover pipes are your likely culprits. Make sure oil changes are every 5-7k, not when the computer tells you. No head gasket issues that I know of, unless it overheats. I love mine, my Great Dane fits in the back very well, and I can't...

Front Half Shafts - Replacement Time

I had the front end in the air today and was wiggling things around, trying to pin down a weird click/clunk when stabbing the brakes at 15mph, a clunk that has persisted despite new LCAs, new sway bar links/bushings and new Arnott struts. Lo and behold, both of my front half shafts are loose...

    Another 20" tire question

offset is key. I run L322 FFRR SS wheels with 275 55 20s and no spacers/rods. There is light rubbing in tight right hand turns, tire is hitting the plastic wheel well lining. Otherwise, pretty good. I believe these wheels are ET47.

    Fuel Filter Replacement

In all the cars i've owned, there has been a fuel filter downstream of the in-tank fuel pump and has been a replacement item every 60-70k or so. This is my first DI vehicle and I know the fuel pump system is different, with high pressure pumps at the front, and an electric pump in the trunk(i...

    0W-30 Oil for 2011 V8?

I remember reading somewhere about thicker oil(thicker than 20) messing with the cam phasers? Can anyone verify?

Thoughts on 2021 Bronco as LR4 replacement?

Big fan. Would look at the 2.7 ecoboost 4dr, with some sort of off road package(sasquatch?). I think they hit it out of the park with this one.

Let's try to get the facts down on tensioner issues

2013, 92k. Bought at 65k two years ago, 5k oil changes with M1-EP 5w20. No noises. The amount of panic mongering out there about this(mostly by LR3 owner keyboard warriors on FB) is unbelievable.

Mattress Pad in the back - Recommendations?

I am looking to get something that rolls up and self inflates/is memory foam and is not an air mattress. Namely because there is a giant Great Dane who would be sharing it with me and his nails would destroy any real air mattress. I measured it yesterday and a queen size is a little too wide but...

    '13 LR4 Pending Purchase

13s apparently still have tensioner issues. So do the 14-16 SC V6 models. Best way to prevent this is regular 5-6k oil changes with good oil. 13 is a great year for these trucks!

Mattress Pad in the back - Recommendations?

For those of you who sleep in the back of the LR4 when camping, etc - any recommendations for a mattress/sleeping pad that fits well in that space? Looking for something simple and portable, nothing fancy. Let me know if anyone has any specific recommendations and thanks!

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

Thanks for the writeup, Troy. Very useful. I wish I had this to refer to last year. Just FYI, 31.9 fits on the lr4 with very light rubbing and the spare fits in the compartment, deflated. So you can flirt with 32 inches and still be OK.

Anyone moved from an LR4 to a Velar?

i can attest to that Velar doing things I did not expect it to be able to do. Was very impressed.

    Oil type specification for V8

WSS-M2C925-A is an old spec that has been superseded by a different/newer spec(930, or something along those lines). I've never used an oil that met that spec and am not worried about it, as long as it's a quality oil and the right weight and oil changes happen every 5k.

    Well crap!

I put a beck arnley one in mine at 80k. Original seemed ok but i wanted to stay ahead of this infamous failure point. Any aftermarket brands better than others? Seems like OEM is just as crappy as the rest.

2012 LR4 Whining in steering wheel (inside the cabin)

Mine has been doing this as well for almost two years. It doesn't seem like a PS flush would solve this, as this is a plastic squeaky sound directly in the steering column. I'd love to know what to spray and where to make this go away.

    IID Tool Adjustments

I disabled mine because I got new wheels and I didn't want to reconfigure the tpms sensors to work with them. The TPMS system in this vehicle is garbage anyway as doesn't display PSI readings. Newer ones might.

    Your experience about LR4 V8 5.0

There is quite a bit hate on the 5.0 V8 - mostly by 4.4 v8 folks, who secretly wish they had the 75 extra hp - but I absolutely love mine. I think it's a solid engine and has been serving me well for two years now. You do have to stay on top of a few specific failure points - water pump, coolant...

    Intake Valve Cleaning

Yeah the 5L(and 3L sc) has two separate intakes that converge on one throttle body. So spraying the cleaner in either side works, as they both go to the same TB and plenum.

    IID Tool Adjustments

I turned off TPMS. It took some work as you gotta do it in three separate places. Where can you add the digital speedo?

    tires for LR4

When I bought mine in 2018, it came with Toyo Open Country A/T in the stock 255 55 19 size. These had maybe 35% life left and were decent considering they were older and not really an off road tread pattern. Early this year, I switched wheels and am now running Yokohama Geolandar G015 A/T tires...

    LR4 vs Defender

You can manually lock the diffs in a new defender? Where did you see this? edit: never mind, I see you can do that in the touch screen.
