    First Winter Drive...

Looking nice! Great tires. I'll have to see if they make them in 19s.

    Towing with 2017 Discovery

That's a beautiful pic. Doesn't seem like the little engine up front should be able to pull that monster in the back! Cool video, thanks. I have a 2013 LR4 HSE LUX. Is "Trailer Stability Assist" a standard feature or something you had to pay extra for? My car did not come with the towing...

I have had a loaner D5 for a week Ask Me Anything (LR4 owner)

Interesting. I wonder what tweaks they'll squeeze in to that one. I had the first LR3 (2005) and had buttons on it that were not even functional for phone controls and satellite radio. They didn't get all that figured out until the 2006 year.

Disco 5 hit with the ugly stick

I know they will drop the height in particular wheels to level out, but I don't think they have enough pressure in the tank to lift them up. I could be wrong, but if you fill the back with mulch bags you'll tap it out if the engine isn't running. That much I know. :)

Running Winter/Snow tires in relatively warmer temperature areas

I know this post is a year old, but is anyone recommending the General Grabbers still? (whatever version is currently out there) My mechanic likes them and also commented they are a good bit cheaper than Michelins or Nokians. Let us know how you like them. I had them put on my LR3, but didn't...

    First Winter Drive...

Damn, those do look nice. What is the drawback with leaving them on year 'round? Is it a wear issue? MPG? I don't typically store an extra set of tires, but I could I guess.

Disco 5 hit with the ugly stick

What kind of tires did you get? I had a similar experience at Home Depot loading bags of mulch in the back. They were amazed how many I fit in there. And then they looked at me like a dumbass when they saw the wheel wells almost resting on the tires once we loaded 40 bags in there or...

    KEY FOB COVER(s)

Those covers are a great idea. I'm with @cperez , if you have one that works for the later FOBs, please post. It may even make them more water resistant to handle a brief drop into water. I use the RBF red tags on my rooftop box keys. Which I have driven away with in the box before... Hey...

    First Winter Drive...

Thanks. That's High Point Lake in PA. Just a bit north of Deep Creek. The guy I was out with is headed to DCL today. Ice is 5'" thick at both. Plenty strong.

Disco 5 hit with the ugly stick

Interesting. That's still an acquired taste that I haven't acquired... but I like it much better than the current version. Interior is mostly sweet also (except for those big FJ Cruiser looking vents)

    First Winter Drive...

...for my 2013. Hey, it came up from Florida for me. There's a good chance it's never seen snow before! :D I'm not crazy about the tires on it for snow, but it did great as you would expect. Schools around here were closed due to cold weather, but we only had a dusting of snow. I had to...

Disco 5 hit with the ugly stick

Ugh. Not good to hear that about the brand not doing well. I have been suprised by the number of Range Rovers I have been seeing around me lately. It may be how people look at me in the LR4, but I look at those RRs as very pricey beasts for the local soccer moms to be driving. And that's who...

    Winter Washing Options?

Great tips, thanks guys. I like the idea of the two phase manual wash bay approach. Seems like the best option, or like @mbw said... just do the spray and don't bother getting your hands cold. It's still better off! I don't think I could do what the Porsche detail guy suggested. Once your...

    Winter Washing Options?

I typically avoid automated car washes except during cold winter months. I ALWAYS end up with hairline swirl marks and scratches all over the vehicle that I find on my first Spring hand wash. The brush-less washes aren't much better as those foam towels are all covered with the dirt from the...

    Prospeed Rack

Nice looking rack. What do you have stored up front. Are those offroad recovery treads of some sort?

    Delay in Reverse...

WHAT? This is news to me. They offer an option to have a shifter instead of the stupid dial? But you need to buy the SVX version to get it?!? :hmmmm: If that's true, than they acknowledge that the dial is left desirable for shifting, but they leave the thing on anyway. Do they figure that...

    Towing with 2017 Discovery

WOW! I don't have towing experience with the LRs, but that's quite a drop in range you have to plan around. About 140 miles per tank (I know it'll go further, but the gas gauge must start yelling at you after 120 miles or so. That's barely two hours of driving.)

I have had a loaner D5 for a week Ask Me Anything (LR4 owner)

This is a very timely post, thanks. I've watched this vehicle a lot and of course posted my thoughts. Had one park next to me yesterday and for the first time it kind of grew on my. It did look more modern than the LR4 (Explorer similarities and a*s-end aside) and when I peeked in the windows...

    Sign of Things to Come?

It's always been bushings and/or control arm related for me when I've had this noise. I know you said they're good, but that's what I'd have someone take a careful look at. I think in a post below you said it's when you are making a turn at low speed or entering a slight hill. That's when I've...

    WeatherTech vs ? floor liners

I have the OEM black rubber mats. When I first looked at my new/used LR4 (which was replacing my LR3) I thought the black mats looked like crap. I was used to matching almond colored mats. However, they have very quickly grown on me and they work great. Easy to take out and clean. And perfect...

    Christmas spirit (and lights)

Great idea! I have a similar setup on my mountain bike currently (doing a lot of group night rides this winter). Target has these strings of battery powered LED light strings that work very well. I think you'd need several of them, though, to get the effect you did with the inverter and...

LR4 DTE gas warning vs. LR3

Took this today before and after fillup. Seems on my truck, it only figures in a 20 gallon tank. Maybe that last 2.8 gallons is the designed in reserve? That's my guess since the 22 DTE is approximately the distance you could go with the 1.2 gallons left in the tank (if you assumed a 20...

    Electric Hybrid Rover

If they come up with a non-Range Rover offroad capable electric, I'd be very interested. Basically, I guess I'm looking for an electric LR3... no need to have the RR luxury on a utilitarian vehicle. Further, if you take that big flat roof on the LR3/LR4 and cover it with solar cells that...

    Delay in Reverse...

I had an Discovery Sport loaner with this knob and I found it annoying. Particularly in parking lots when you are doing a K turn to get out of a tight spot. Ugh... so much nicer to have instant gear changes.

    Windshield

Well, to CarMax's credit they took care of everything I asked for and a few things I didn't. Service tech wanted to get it right. I actually didn't realize this was a 6 months warranty from when they replaced it (thought it was a year) so I'm really lucky I brought it in when I did. They put...
