Buying this 2015 LR4 Lux Pkg w/ HD Pkg, but am freaking out about the RUST! Should I walk?

It's kind of hard to tell with the photos. It's not great but it doesn't look awful. Any surface rust I wouldn't really worry about, but it looks a bit deeper in some of the photos. I see you're in Chicago? Is that where the car is located? Seems pretty typical for the rust belt. You will most...

    2015 TPMS function

The TPMS light only comes on if the tire pressure is low. The TPMS will not give you a tire pressure readout.

    HD vs non-HD package LR4

The V8's all have the 2 speed transfer case, so that doesn't work on anything 2013 or older. The best way used to be to run the vin through Topix, but I think you have to pay for that feature now.

    Mystery speedometer

Indeed it does look funky. If you want to check the vin in a few places, you can digitally check on the instrument cluster, the windshield, and the frame (believe its on the side on the passenger side) I'm sure there's more places with the vin, but that's just a few that I've seen.

    Auxiliary chain and sprocket change

I also removed my radiator without disconnecting the lines. It was difficult to take out. Not bad to get it back in though.

Thinking about buying an LR4 for Offroading/Overlanding

I have the locking rear but I do know the computer does a pretty good job at emulating a rear locker with the brakes if you don’t have it. Most of the time you probably won’t even need a rear locker. Be lucky you have the full sized spare.

    HD vs non-HD package LR4

If you go to the 4x4 info screen, and see two differentials you have the rear locker. Put it into sport mode, steering wheel straight, and floor it and the rear locker will partially lock up.

Drive-in Movie Theater (Nightmare on Elm Street)

If your ignition is off, you can press the power button on the radio and it will run for a bit longer than it would if the cars ignition was on. Car is too smart to let you deplete the battery in my experience. It'll just keep shutting the radio off and eventually not let you turn it back on...

    Long crank, no faults

Thanks for the update! This is one of the more frustrating threads on here that I've seen in a long time. Hope you can get everything resolved.

    Air Suspension head scratcher

Already got the rover home, luckily. I looked more into the air struts as well. Looks like Arnott and Bilstein are my two aftermarket options. Bilsteins are going to be about $300 more for a front pair, and are also discontinued, but I found some new ones online.... Not sure which ones to go...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

All 4 corners were in normal height. Failed corner couldn't maintain off road height. Not too bad of a failure honestly... I was in off road height when it started to leak. I heard air hissing out and thought I blew out a tire. I actually drove it off the trail in normal height, and raised it...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

.... 4 days later, in the middle of a trail in Moab my front drivers side air strut failed. It was hard to get off the trail but I managed without causing any damage to my car. Anyways I'm in the market for a replacement now. Going to either go with the Arnotts or the Bilsteins I think, but I'm...

    Rust under front seats

Glad I’m not the only one with that part rusted. Mine aren’t too bad. Haven’t bothered to remove the rust.

    V8 Whining Noise

You able to post a video? (Most people upload it to YouTube and post the link here) Maybe it's your viscous fan. Mine got stuck on, needed to be replaced. Does it sound like a ton of air flow? Like a larger commercial truck?

When did your crossover go and is your climate HOT (CA, NM, AZ, TX, LA, etc) or COOL (PNW, northeast, etc)

Front crossover failed (just a slow leak luckily) around 60k if I remember correctly. Failed in a somewhat hot climate, but I don't really know the past life of the vehicle beyond it being on the east coast.

    Air Suspension head scratcher

What kind of climate/driving habits do you guys have with failing/leaking suspension? I have 116k on mine, all original. Dry AZ driving, with a fair bit of off roading and towing. Maybe mine are just a ticking time bomb at this point.

Land Rover LR4 H7 to H8 Battery Upgrade DIY

My battery cover has never closed correctly either. Never had a problem. Also the noise your neighbor thinks is lifter noise, is probably just the fuel injectors. These engines are noisy.

advice for newbe RE timing chain on older rovers

There are some forum members with 150k+ here on the factory chains and guides. Failures are less common on 2013's. A lot of luck and a lot of oil changes help. You can pull on the chain from the oil cap to see if it's tight. A rattling chain on a cold start is also a tell tale sign. I think we...

Preventative maintenance recommendation for a 9 year old LR4 w/52k miles

I have 116k miles and have only done the water pump and crossover. Wouldn't worry about the rest if I were you.

    Long crank, no faults

If you have an excuse to do an oil change, you could do an oil analysis and see if fuel is in your oil. Won’t be quick though.

M12 outter tie rod or m14?

I bought my Timkens from Lucky8 and have been happy. Replaced both front ones a while back and never had issues. I do believe I purchased new axle nuts from the dealer though.
