2010 V8 serpentine and accessory belt replacement

I have these and they work on the 2013 V8 - left hand thread. Watch which way you turn - depends on your year of course... NO supercharger it's a left hand thread, with supercharger it's a standard thread. These are the tools as specified in the mechanics manual. Amazon: DPTOOL Viscous Fan...

    Heated windshields

Is it a factory window or has it been replaced? it might just be a bad connection on the passengers side. On the interior pillar about 2/3 of the way up, pop off that piece of plastic, it's been a while but I believe that the connector is there. If not, then loosen that torqx and remove the...

    Snow chains recommendations

I grew up in Wisconsin (but real mountain terrain and snow not so much), we used chains probably all of 2 times my entire growing up years. Always a pain, hopefully better technology nowadays. But then came studded snow tires - remember those? And then actual real snow tires. Now I am in...

Steal of a deal on an LR4 with issues

I have the mechanics manuals for 2009-2012, 2014 and 2016. They are widely available on-line and they are inexpensive. As I recall I got them from Craigs Manuals, good service and immediate downloads. Inexpensive as well. I use Palm Beach Rover for my parts. Seldom the least expensive, but...

Intake Valve Cleaner Chemicals - Your Opinion on Immediate Change of Oil

Just cleaned the MAF sensors and the throttle body. Ready to clean the valves with a can of spray (CRC if it matters). Any thoughts on the need to change the oil after this? Some concern about unburned chemicals making their way into the oil, and compatibility of the chemicals with engine...

    IID Tool Recommendation

Finally had a few minutes to get to this. Thanks for the menu help. It has been quite a while since I first attempted this reset, but this looks familiar. Anyway, new phone, so downloaded all new files. It worked this time and the "Maintenance Required" message is now gone.

    IID Tool Recommendation

No, I have not updated the software since the initial "install", and I do need to do that. The message that will not clear is the "Maintenance Required" that flashes up at startup for 5 or 6 seconds. As I recall that was an "irritation reminder" to get the vehicle to the dealership and not...

Prolonged engine choke operation when starting from cold

Not sure about Toronto, but here in Houston I likely put more than 9 cents of vapor to the air every time I fill it up - while vapor recovery is "required" here almost all stations have disabled it. I look at it this way - what is the total footprint of a small amount of emissions for winter...

    IID Tool Recommendation

I defer to the highly experiences folks, but my IID Tool experience was less than anticipated. I purchased mine directly from the manufacturer. The company was hard to work with, did not return e-mails. I found the registration process to be exceedingly poorly documented and highly frustrating...

Need some help/advice on my washer fluid pump...I think

No headlight jets on this one. But we had them on the '92 Isuzu Trooper - as they got older they seeped and then began to stain the paint. I disconnected before any permanent paint damage was done.

Need some help/advice on my washer fluid pump...I think

Daughter finally had a few minutes to perform a remote diagnostic session. So whatever had probably frozen at 7F was unfrozen at 27F. Pump still works, no re-set required. Pumped out alot of "washer fluid" and back filled with the good stuff -25F. She has instructions to continue running the...

Really Stupid Question - Time required to reach operating temperature (V6)?

Daughter in Rochester, NY finally had some time to spend with the 2016. At 26F, Idle 10 minutes - dash indicated dead cold. Hold at 2K RPM for 7-8 minutes - at normal operating temp Recalibrated her expectations on how long it should take to warm up! Thanks!

    SAD ENDING TO OUR LR4

I would be highly tempted to buy it back and repair it myself. Although hard to tell, at first glance it looks mostly cosmetic and body plus some possible suspension repairs. Can you tell if there is any frame damage??

Need some help/advice on my washer fluid pump...I think

Sounds logical. Would be better if there was an automatic reset tied to ambient temperature rather that requiring a trip to the dealership- oh wait, silly me…. At least some of us have invested in the IIDTool, Sounds like I play with it on the 2013, then send the IID to my daughter so we can...

Need some help/advice on my washer fluid pump...I think

I was just going to ask that! I can play with it here on the 2013 then send it to her and she can reset the required parameter on her 2016 as long as she can add the app to her phone. (Yes, my IID is set up for both trucks.) So, what is the exact parameter that needs to be reset for this...

Need some help/advice on my washer fluid pump...I think

Hmmm, we shall see what happens when we get it defrosted. I can't do that reset from across the country, might be a trip to the remote Rover Dealership - at least people seem to rate them highly. OR actually, can I send her the IIDTool and do it from across the country on my phone?? Anyone...

Really Stupid Question - Time required to reach operating temperature (V6)?

Not to exceed 3K RPM? Ours have probably seen 3K RPM once or twice in their entire lives! Thanks, I am old enough to have learned "old school", the man goes out 30 minutes before the car is needed. Starts it, clears snow, and waits.... I know that running rich is not good long term, but why...

Need some help/advice on my washer fluid pump...I think

Please update with results. My daughter in Rochester NY just tried her washers and they are not working. Even though I put in 0F fluid, which is fine for there, I wonder if the previous fluid had not been fully flushed out and might be frozen in the pump or the lines. Concerned about damage due...

Really Stupid Question - Time required to reach operating temperature (V6)?

Ha! I used a "Saskatchewan Thermostat" on my 1972 Austin Marina in Wisconsin. Mine had a one-time adjustable aperture in the middle. Had to calibrate the size of the aperture vs the temperature and be sure to install the summer version before it got too warm out.

    engine stalling

Well, years ago my Austin Marina had a gas tank that was painted on the inside. The paint failed and flaked off. After maybe 20-30 minutes enough paint flakes were sucked up against the fuel tank filter that the engine stalled out. After sitting for about the same amount of time, they had come...

Wonky bits after disconnecting my battery...

It's very possible that your IIDTool (like mine) will not have the proper battery listed when you do the battery reset. Just choose the closest/best fit. And yes, my LR4 was unhappy at first, but after "thinking about" the new battery overnight, all the codes cleared - all my themselves. Go...
