Are you using the same pan? I'd look to see if its bent. Another thing is depending on the situation, if you are using a gasket and RTV, let RTV completely cure first.
I think I would break down and get the Defender with the V8. Even though its unibody, there is a lot going for it. I'm waiting for year 2032 before I plan to revisit what vehicle I want. By that time I hope people have put miles on the Defender chassis and start talking about how it holds up to...
Do you know how to tell when a salesman is lying? His lips are moving. This is what you should get https://www.landroverusa.com/defender/defender-octa/index.html
Sorry to see you go. I'd like the xlifter but don't really need to be spending for that right now. Enjoy your new rig. i8mud or whatever forum is a lot more active than the Land Rover forums. The aftermarket will catch up quickly since everyone buys Toyotas.
Its weird it didn't throw a flag when the bag decompressed. I'm at 107k mi now on original air springs and take desert terrain about 5-10 MPH but traverse nothing like Moab.
Here is a pic of my old leaking rear pipe. You can see the orange coolant traces coming out between the seams and then a pic of the new pipe where the seams don't look that great
That sounds clever. I carry a tire pump that hits 150 lbs or so. Do you have a manual spring inflator on your rig? I'll need to do some YT searching for a how-two.
How did you blow out an air shock?
My pipe looked suspect so I brought it back to the service department and pointed it out. They had a whole large box full of them (no surprise) and said they all have the same quality problem like that. I installed it regardless because to me the priority part isn't really that exterior seam...
I haven't high centered yet on stock suspension in off-road height, but I'm still a newbie to the LR4 and past couple months I've been getting the tires dirty all through the Mohave on/off "designated" roads, through river bottoms. Its been a lot of fun. I've been testing the approach angle...
I wasn't aware of an auxiliary battery, not saying it doesn't exist. I just charge my starter battery and keep it topped off. This is how I do it, but with a 60AMP charger:
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'm going to get the courage to rebuilt the front/rear valve blocks as a preventative maintenance thing since I could do it on my own.
For the past few days I didn't park on blocks to level the cargo area and instead shimmed my air mattress. I did that as...
There was drop in 3 of 4 corners when measuring from the ground to the bottom of the fender trim right up the center-line of the wheel. I ran a 24 hr leak test while in off-road height with the fuse pulled last week. With these measurements below, the left front was on two blocks and had 0"...
Sounds like a good experience with Arnott overall and their compressor sounds impressive.
After reading some Range Rover posts about air struts and leaks now I''m debating whether I have a leak. Some people are saying that unless it isn't on the bump stops in the morning it isn't a leak. My...
Arnott doesn't sound like a good option, a few quality complaints. There is a company called Suncore that is said to sell factory rebuilds https://www.suncoreindustries.com/product/17463/air-suspension-passive-air-strut-assembly-rear-range-rover-sport-l319-lr3-lr4. Has anyone tried the Suncore...
Does anyone have experience with the Arnott air shocks? I'm considering an alternative to Land Rover brand https://arnott.mycarparts.com/items/AS-2534 But I don't want to compromise the integrity.
The owners manual explicitly states its top heavy and it will roll over if you do it wrong. On the highway I travel over a mountain pass and when taking a set for a corner there is a lot of body movement before it settles. I haven't read that warning in any of my previous vehicles but this is my...
I tried backing the star wheel off manually and the rotor wouldn't budge trying to remove it. I heard there is a second star wheel (or whatever component) that needs to be released using software before the rotor can be removed.
What software are you guys using to back-off the star wheel for the shoes in order to pull the rotor? If my brakes start doing things like these stories then I'm going to have a problem this winter lol. I'm pretty sure they will freeze up too. I'm planning a trip where it gets down to 9F and...
OEM for mine. I also did an OEM radiator at 98k since it had a super slight leak. The leak was evident because of traces left from the coolant. I believe the orangish residue from a leak is purposeful.
Reading through the manual I found the max rear axle load is just over 2 tons. It seems like the LR4 is a strong SUV truck. I see footnote 3, but I'm curious how much weight is on the rear axle unloaded in order to subtract that from the max rear axle load to get max payload back there. Does...
