    Transmission “Free Wheeling”

It sounds like the bands are slipping and low fluid will do that and cause shifting problems.

Bouncy Ride Normal? +engine cover part no. request

Yeah, a much shorter wheel base will have a rougher ride. But the flip side as you know is its more maneuverable. The only related situation I noticed in mine was the front end seemed to plant down then come back up more when coming to a complete stop more so than my last car that had springs...

Bouncy Ride Normal? +engine cover part no. request

If it has an air suspension it would feel soft. Cushy is how mine feels. Look underneath at the control arms and look for springs. Some people want to convert the air suspension to have springs instead. Even if you have springs, you could fix it with proper shocks that work with proper springs.

I ordered the gap tool last year. They took my money then canceled the order the next day and accused me of being a thief. F them.

Do durable side wall tires exist for the LR4?

Sounds like a good plan. The new spare tire winch I bought for $150 back in February broke and it didn't even have one full cycle on it. So it would have broke for the tire technician too even if he unwound it by hand. The winch stuck with the tire in the air while I was trying to lower it, that...

No idea, but the Loctite is specific about the gap height its tested to fill where as Permatex doesn't offer that spec and the Permatex has complicated instructions that I wouldn't want to deal with. I personally would get the loctite.

Dash lit up like a Christmas tree out in BFE

My LR4 made it back into town, I plop the battery on the counter after calling ahead yesterday with the OK to exchange it and they guy puts his device on it and says its OK, there is nothing wrong with it. After some convincing, he exchanged it for a new one under warranty and once I fired it...

That was my first thought, similar to when the sidewall gets a bubble. It looks to me like I hit a curb at 15 MPH.

Do durable side wall tires exist for the LR4?

I realized that if I get tires now then the tire shop is likely going to spin the caps on the lug nuts with the impact. I'm already planning to release the spare on my own and put it up on my own so they don't take the impact wrench to the winch and break it too. I like the Toyo AT3 tread...

Do durable side wall tires exist for the LR4?

With the extra side wall, will you rub if the air suspension drops to its bump stops? I drove on bump stops for the first time today so now I'm thinking oversized tires or too oversized tires would have stranded me right there in the middle of the road.

I did, the voltage was 12.8V when the ignition wouldn't turn on. The problem does seem related to bumps in a big way. I'm going to drop the skid plate tomorrow and check the electrical connections. I like the internally shorting battery idea, it makes great sense and pretty exciting lol.

I'm not sure its rodents biting on wires anymore. Along with that, I think pulling one relay, pushing on the fuse box and dorking around with it and then going from no ignition at all to the ignition turning on but no starter was completely unrelated. I hiked back to it a few hours later to...

Do durable side wall tires exist for the LR4?

They are the original make/model but not original tires. They had probably 10k mi on them when I bought it, plenty of tread left. One big advantage of the factory tires is when I'm on private roads in Mexico I can do 115 MPH to beat those people that want to drive 5 under, but when I go to pass...

Dash lit up like a Christmas tree out in BFE

The other day while cruising on a forest road I was going a little too quick and slowed up over tree roots and the ABS, Brake and Hill Decent Control went inactive. It seemed like a wheel sensor problem, but the air suspension dropped to normal mode. I turn the ignition off then back on, raise...

Do durable side wall tires exist for the LR4?

Been off-roading a lot exploring through the mountains looking for places to camp and enjoying time off. Today the OsmAnd app took me on a wild goose chase and it seemed like I was on another ATV trail that was pretty fun, but when I got back to camp I noticed a bulge in the left rear. I've...

    Surprising oil usage

I drove North (250mi?) hitting the highest speeds ever in the LR4, and didn't making any changes and before leaving the gas station I set a timer for 10 min., checked the oil level and it was a 1/2 quart low. I pulled out to a level looking area and set a timer for 30 minutes, checked again and...

    Surprising oil usage

Land Rover has rebuild kits for $75 each, but I'm hoping the low oil is user error and I'm not sure how to validate if the PCV's are functioning properly. It would be great to test them. I might try measuring the oil in a store parking lot with a 10 minute timer, figure out a way to determine if...

Are you set on the slider? I put my refer in through the passenger door or through the tailgate if I don't need to load gas and water cans. Then I simply tie it down. Surprising oil usage

The PCV valves are original, ~108k mi now. Replacing them luckily looks straight forward, but I've never dealt with the PCV valve before on any engine. There is oil/dirt residue that wasn't around the port previously at 101k mi. The oil/dirt around the oil filter housing wasn't present either...

I checked the Wix air filters and took a pic of it along with a shot of the amazing flashlight (Acebeam L35), it works well to see any animals stalking me at night as well as inspecting the engine, like cracks on the serpentine belts for example. I'd guess the oil is clean enough for now based...
