PSA - Kings Cross Automotive, SW Washington state

Its surprising that there was clutch damage already. I was hearing they can last 200k mi. I've got 112k mi on my trans and been thinking about towing an RV trailer with it. Right now my shifter squeaks on upshift and I'm hesitant to find out how much that is going to cost since it looks like a...

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

Sorry to hear that. Sounds scary. What is the fuel supply manifold? I can't find it on mine in the manual, curious what condition its in. I do have a fire extinguisher lol. There has been a couple engine fires posted to reddit, but nobody really knows why they caught fire. Here is a diagram...

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

I ran them in Seattle and the back-country roads (Rainer, Olympics, Cascades, etc) and didn't have a wet weather problem. I loved driving them in snow. The last rig I had them on was a Silverado big block 496CI V8 4X4. Aside from my personal experience, there was an Australian test where guys...

PSA - Kings Cross Automotive, SW Washington state

Sorry to hear that. Which reman did you get? Getting a judgement against Kings Cross is only 1/2 the battle. The other half is receiving payment. My guess is they made a mistake and tried to cover it up because they couldn't and/or didn't want to stand by their work.

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

Weird how it pumped out all the fuel. I'd probably blame it on the tire shop. Maybe they swapped your OEM parts with junk parts to sell on Ebay.

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

The load range depends on the cargo and/or tongue weight and the axle capacity and you might have a stiffer ride than needed. I would go with the BFG KO2's for Utah. The Toyo and MT's would be good for Nevada but in Utah the terrain is much more rocky.

2012 LR4 infotainment problem. Help please!

That guys interior is different than mine. I'm pretty sure mine has AC lines in the cargo area behind the LR panel. He has a big void in his. Perfect space for a diesel heater or a battery pack.

Two inner CV’s died- what could it be?

It could be that you bought a used part that broke. Did you get a warranty with it?

    Compomotive wheels bent?

19k miles out of a set of tires isn't suspect to me, but the wear pattern is what matters.

    Under Hood Insulation

Its for sound I thought. If you have a fire it might save the paint if it isn't too bad. But for the mice. Mechanical traps and peanut butter. I put mine next to the wheels on the ground so they die before they can get into trouble.

    Rough 5-4 change ZF6

I would start with the basics before doing anything major by draining the fluid and changing the filter, but that kind of hard shifting sounds like it needs repair unless the fluid wasn't changed after break-in. Not that its a rule or anyone does that, but I'd do it just like on a reman engine.

    Rough 5-4 change ZF6

Sounds like there is too much shifting. Try driving it in command mode and make your shifts. When I climb grades and go through passes, I don't use automatic shifting and drive it in the higher RPM range rather than the lower RPM's and leave it in gear unless its bogging and unable to maintain...

    Shipping for Vacation

10/10. Wait until you can get more time to travel the way you want? I wouldn't want to fly somewhere to go camping, but if you are talking about staying in bed and breakfasts or a hotel then just keep it simple and rent a car.

    Gear shifter squeak

When using command shift to upshift, I hear a squeak every time now. The noise is coming from inside #11 in the illustration below where the shaft is. Does the housing come apart so it can be lubed?

    Removing rear seats?

I was thinking to save the leather and repurpose it. Tearing apart the 3rd row rear seats is not as evil as moving to coil overs so I don't feel bad at all about it. A lot of gear can fit inside the back there and with a 4k pound rear end, might as well use every square inch it to its fullest...

    Removing rear seats?

That looks like a crafty setup with the water tank. I've been thinking about removing just the 3rd row seat leather cushions and then mount battery cells to the seat backs to hide and permanently stow a battery pack and retain the original flat floor. Right now I need to lug a battery pack in...

Thoughts on switching from 5w20 to 5w40 as miles approach 200K?

Oil change frequency and oil level is what you want to pay attention to, not changing the oil weight. I'm targeting 7,500 mi using Mobil 1 but some people change it much sooner at 5k mi. After shutting the engine off I set an alarm for 10 minutes and ensure the oil level is full.

    LR4 Timing Chain repair questions

My '12 had the noise and it was consistent, unlike the OP from 2 years ago. I had the cam actuators replaced for $1k while they were in there. I think on my engine the actuators were making noise since it didn't sound like chain slap. But now it runs really good. Its strong up the grades and has...

    Prospeed product interest?

A bit of a tangent, but Tactical4x4 looks pretty cool. I like their bumper https://tactical4x4.com/index.php/product/lr4-rear-bumper/, but would like to line the whole thing with jerry can holders and ditch the spare since I already have a spot for that. Been wanting that to save space because I...
