    Rear coolant line leak

Apart from the possible issue you have with the dealership, which sounds like it might be valid… I replaced much of those hard lines on mine with rubber heater hose, re-routed to prevent rubbing in the wheel well from oversize tires. if you can isolate the section of line that is leaking, a...

    Refueling out on the trail

I'm using a pair of Trail'd tanks mounted where the spare used to be underneath. I.e., they're really only there if I am kinda desperate. It's not too bad to empty them both, probably about 5 minutes each, but then I'm 6'2" and about 225 so it probably depends on how you're built.

    Misfiring Cyl 2/4/6 ?? 2015 LR4

Again,if neither you nor your mechanic have a way to read the codes or the real-time parameters, you are likely to spend more money in guesswork replacement parts than you would by just buying the GAP tool and replacing the parts that a subsequent diagnosis might recommend. In spite of how...

    Misfiring Cyl 2/4/6 ?? 2015 LR4

What do I think? I think I wish I could be more helpful. You've tried a LOT of different things. And it seems like you've made some really good progress. If it were me, I would be asking the mechanic for more specifics on why he thinks the crankshaft or the sleeve job was faulty. You earlier...

    Misfiring Cyl 2/4/6 ?? 2015 LR4

This is good advice, in my opinion.

    Defender vs. Mazda mx5.

LOL...if passing on the right were illegal in Oregon, every highway would effectively be one lane. The sheer prevalence and tenacity of people who steadfastly do the opposite of the signs that say "Slower traffic keep right" is impressive.

    Control Arm bushings

Thanks, @CRYA . Does anyone know if Meyle makes a "Front lower forward" bushing? Or am I good just getting the Lemforder 3438901?

    Control Arm bushings

Reviving a bit of a zombie thread here, I know, but hopefully helps to know I've read through this one. A year or so ago I replaced the stock LCA bushings/bushes in front with the red poly bushings from Lucky 8. For whatever reason, one of them failed on a trail in Moab. I think it is actually...

205,000 miles and about to service transmission question.

I would guess that a poorly-done service on an older transmission might loosen up some crud and deposit it in places where it might not have ended up had it been left alone. But IDK. And IDK whether that still equates to a "never flush an old transmission" or not. Seems likely that plenty of old...

Rivian SUV thoughts? Looks like an LR4

Electric just keeps getting better and better. Batteries and range are going to continue to get better, too, but as @ryanjl said, currently the real offroad range is still a bit low for some things. I've heard that a full charge in a Rivian is good to about 150 miles or so of mixed-terrain...

    Jacking Options

I basically ground a bolt head down to the right diameter for the pin. I also put a hard rubber washer in on top of the jack. I unthreaded that bolt and the washer for both these pics, so hopefully it makes sense.

    Jacking Options

I got a Harbor Freight bottle jack, drilled and threaded a hole, and screwed in a threaded rod the right diameter. Seems to work fine.

Engine Rattling on Cold Start (Timing chain tensioner?)

Might as well change the oil in the supercharger while it's out, too.

2012 Radio not storing preset stations or returning to last station listened to

This is a total shot in the dark, but...many electronics have an internal battery to store certain info, usually a little 2032 coin battery or something. Is it possible that these have that as well?

Relocating the two hoses in the right rear wheel well

    Many thanks, Michael!

Relocating the two hoses in the right rear wheel well

I'm not sure whether these are plumbed to the heater or the rear AC, but there are two hoses in the right rear wheel arch that really interfere with the ability to get up travel back there in some trail situations. Looking at them, it looks like I could potentially cut the hard line and relocate...

    Control Arms

I worry sometimes that we can come across as hostile in expressing our skepticism. I think it would be great to see this in action on the vehicle, though. And to find out how much the tool costs.

    XLifter and stock settings

I recently got an XLifter, and the documentation is a little thin. So I have a couple of questions. 1. If you install the XLifter system, you end up with basically two sets of controls trying to run in parallel, right? For example, if you have the stock buttons set to off-road mode, and the...

Lowest possible low profile slider for rear?

Good thoughts, @ftillier I had toyed with getting some thin teflon sheets, but they're pretty pricey. And I think I'd need two of whatever I got to make it work. I'll look into the Delrin idea. EDIT: looks like Delrin isn't that much cheaper, honestly. I might be able to get a custom-cut tray of...

Lowest possible low profile slider for rear?

Having gotten rid of my van, my LR4 now serves as cargo vehicle for my band's PA. Which includes a subwoofer that is 3'x3'x2' and weighs about 160 pounds. The total cubic footage of the gear basically fills the entire rear of the LR4, and that subwoofer in particular is really tough to get in...

Outside temp reads -40 after new bumper installed.

It sounds like either the sensor got damaged, or it is plugged in to the wrong part of the harness, or the harness is damaged. My original sensor works fine with my Tactical front bumper. But it's hard to diagnose the problem you're describing with just pictures; it will take some detective work...

    CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

Yes, the IID tool should read the codes and tell you what you're dealing with. Safest thing to do is to read the codes and make a call based on that as to whether it is driveable.

    GAP tool and suspension height

Thanks, @ftillier , I'll try the "test valves" method. Do you (or anyone else) have any success in getting the two screens in that second post to do anything at all?
