    Whistling noise..

I'm jealous that you have a diesel. My last two trucks have been diesels running on my own homemade fuel. Anyway, it's kind of hard to tell, because maybe it's the quality of the recording, but it sounds like more than a whistle...almost like something is interfering/rubbing? If I had to...

Kinda wish more companies just stuck to dipsticks.

    Refilling coolant system how-to?

I did not measure the actual temperature beforehand, no. I did note where on the instrument temp gauge things tended to sit. I'm happy to measure afterwards, assuming I'll be able to get the engine running now. o_O

    Wiper Linkage/Transmission Replacement

FWIW, I fixed a used car I had with this issue using JB Weld on one side, and mold release spray on the other. I bought new wiper arms (had good splines) and used the JB Weld to make new splines on the other. Held fine for years!

    Oil Level Indicator

Can you pull enough out of the sump using a Mityvac-type device to where you can assume it's basically at 0 and add 8 quarts? Or do you have to pull the drain plug?

    Electronic Gremlins D4/ LR4

Limited experience with the LR4 yet, but in the past I have traced similar issues to this down to something as simple as bad grounds or bad positive connections. Maybe check for corrosion on some of the key grounds, main fuses and other connection points? If there is too much resistance in the...

    Refilling coolant system how-to?

This is great, @jlglr4 ! Thank you. I think I see the 4 bleed ports: there is one on the metal section of coolant line right near the main battery, one on the plastic crossover above the throttle body, one on the reservoir, and one on a plastic elbow right next to the reservoir. Is that right...

    Refilling coolant system how-to?

Having just replaced all the plastic bits and water pump and thermostat on my 2016 SCV6, I'm wondering how I can make sure I've gotten coolant throughout the system, and gotten the air out before I run it. Last thing I want to do is end up with enough cavitation in the water pump that it isn't...

    Oil Level Indicator

I don't think the oil level should have anything to do with oil pressure unless it is low enough that the pump is starting to suck air instead of oil.

    Engine Dies at 70 MPH

May or may not be relevant, but that's an interesting piece of data nevertheless. And you can get IR thermometers pretty cheap these days. Not as cool (pardon the pun) as a FLIR, but might be helpful. What conclusions did you draw from that IR data, @blake aiken ?

How to: Supercharger Removal, Rear Crossover, and Passenger Valve Cover

Anyone know of a good but relatively inexpensive tool to pressure-test the coolant system? I'm not sure whether what Harbor Fright sells will fit the LR4.

Very Rough Idle after Timing Chain Replacement?

Wow. You start to wonder if the J/LR engineers purposely built these to be difficult to maintain. "My brother-in-law is a service tech...gotta keep my sister wealthy!"

Oversize tires and pressures on- and off-road

Part of what's driving me a little nuts about the 4psi rule is that it doesn't seem to account for environmental variables. What's the ambient temperature when measuring pressure cold? How hot is it on the pavement an hour later when you test it hot? Maybe it doesn't make much of a difference...

Oversize tires and pressures on- and off-road

Interesting, @Michael Gain ! I've not heard of that before. I wonder what science/data supports that contention that 4PSI gain after an hour is the sweet spot? Regardless, Cooper seems to be one of the companies that subscribes to that.

    Suspension tuning

Good thing I paid for lifetime alignments. What does this do, and how much of a difference does it make? I thought alignment like this was completely a hardware issue, provided that it is done at the correct suspension height. What would software settings have to do with it?

No idea, but...why wouldn't you just take it to an alignment shop?

Oversize tires and pressures on- and off-road

They came back with a table similar to what's been discussed above. Don't know how to interpret it, and it doesn't have load values that would map to my per-tire weight. 46/51 seem pretty high to me; ordinarily, going up in size means you go down in pressure to maintain a similar contact patch...

Oversize tires and pressures on- and off-road

I saw that, @CRYA . The problems I have with tables like that: The relationship between pressure and the ability to support weight isn't linear as far as I can tell. So extrapolating DOWN below 35PSI (where all these tables seem to bottom out) is iffy. I can't tell whether those tables refer to...

2013 LR4 I'm new need advice on wheels

@Haris Looks good! I assume you're paying attention to where things are rubbing. To my mind, ANY rubbing is not good, because either the tire is going to lose the battle, or something else will.
