    GAP tool and alternator measurements

This explains a lot, even without trying it. I didn’t realize it was doing PWM. I was worried that my alternator was dying because I was seeing such variable voltages. Now I would guess it is acting as designed, flawed as that may be.

    GAP tool and alternator measurements

Hi, all. I recently replaced both cigarette lighters in the center console with these little gems. I attached one to the secondary battery, which is now a LiFePo, and the other I'm just using with the stock cigarette lighter wiring. I'm seeing some strange behavior of those voltmeters as I...

    4-Wheel Alignment

I got the same deal. I've done two alignments, and the second one showed that the first one was pretty far off. IDK what changed in the intervening thousand miles or so, but hey...all it cost me was time. That does beg the question about what was different, though. The second time, I asked the...

    Firewall feed-through?

I can totally understand that perspective. There are a lot of wires already going through there. What I did was use a rounded-off nail, lubed up with some vaseline*, and wedged in on one side...pushing against the grommet, not the wiring. Getting it "started" that way enabled me to push through...

    ARB dual compressor mounting?

That may be the safest approach. I wouldn't expect the "monitor" circuit on the ARB to draw too much power, but any time you can get rid of a parasitic draw on a vehicle with such finicky electronics, you probably should. Best way you could try it out is to just put an ammeter inline with that...

    Firewall feed-through?

Thank you, all. I ended up finding it easiest to go through the main loom entry point behind the fuse box on the passenger side.

    Firewall feed-through?

I'm looking for a good place to feed a 12-gauge positive lead through the firewall to feed an accessory outlet I'm adding. Any recommendations on a place where I might be able to do that easily? Preferably something with an existing grommet?

    Charging system fault

Pardon me if I sound a little frustrated, but there have been a number of this kind of post recently. So this is for everyone, not just you: It would really help to provide as many details and specifics as possible if you want help diagnosing your issues. Whether it's the car not locking right...

    Problem when locking the car.

As I said above, if you look at the display behind your steering wheel, there is a view that will tell you which door it thinks is still open if that is the issue.

Power Supply Distribution Box/Gateway Module - Eco Stop/Start - Help Understanding

I'm more worried about wear and tear on the starter when the ECO feature is working than about anything else. Just seems like a bad idea.

Supercharger Oil Service interval (2016 SCV6)

FWIW, I'm pretty sure mine had the plug facing the back (firewall) not on top.

Rewiring accessories to use the 2nd battery?

Only reason I'd do it is that I replaced it with a higher-capacity LiFePo, and don't really use it for its intended purpose.

Rewiring accessories to use the 2nd battery?

Had no idea! There are a lot of little easter eggs hidden in this thing. Thank you!

Supercharger Oil Service interval (2016 SCV6)

No pictures, but IIRC the fill plug is a hex plug that is on the back side of the supercharger, i.e. the tail end (nearest the firewall). Another good reason to do this during the crossover pipe maintenance. It's also the easiest time to replace the coupler in the supercharger.

    Lower control arm replacements

From Advanced Factors, it looks like there is no Meyle HD equivalent for the upper A-arms. But they do seem to have some Lemforder units. Anyone know if there is a better source for the upper A-arms? I'm guessing the larger tires I'm using are putting a strain on the stock ones with 50k on them.

    ASFIR Gear skid for '05-'15 LR3 LR4

Mistake in ordering sent me the wrong unit, so I'm hoping someone here can use this. It is brand new and still in the shrink wrap. https://www.asfir.com/gear-box-skid-plate-539061.html $100 plus shipping from Portland, OR, or for local pickup.

    Problem when locking the car.

It might help if you elaborated on "doesn't work normally." But...other parts of it make it sound like maybe it thinks something is ajar, like the hood? Or maybe one of the sensors/wiring that detects an open hood, door, or hatch is bad? Maybe start with the simplest and check your display...

Rewiring accessories to use the 2nd battery?

Ah! That makes a lot of sense for the ciggy outlets. Thanks for that! Any thoughts about the cabin lights? Maybe a configuration I could do with the GAP tool to stop them staying on forever once a door is opened?

Rewiring accessories to use the 2nd battery?

Been camping a fair amount with my 2016, and one thing I notice immediately is that any time you leave a door open, the lights are on. Probably computers are awake, too, but lights are on for sure. I can turn them off, but it's a pain. Oh, and none of the 12V ciggy outlets work. I've got a...

Interesting! That's not typical for the way I've seen relays done, but...it's a Land Rover.

**RE-FIXED with Videos** Rear wiper won't turn off

I was going to say, have you measured 12V at TWO terminals there, or only one? Because one possibly should have power all the time, and it's the ground that gets switched. It's if you have two showing power all the time that there would be an issue.

LR4 poor idle with AC in drive

I was referring to the transmission, not the parking brake. And as I said, did you check voltages?
