Right. I did try that, but TBH I couldn’t see down inside enough to make out whether the cable case is intact all the way or not. But the symptoms are just like in the video I linked to above. So I ordered the part and hope for the best. -

Found a good YT vid here that seems to describe what is likely happening. I was thinking it was an electrical issue, but no, it's mechanical and likely not in the lock mechanism at all. So cable ordered, and meanwhile hoping that I won't need emergency entry. -

I did work open the little "door" on the opening and pushed a lot of compressed air through it, in case I'd overloaded it with graphite. Some came out, but no change in the behavior. -

Aren’t these alternators PWM? I thought we basically shouldn’t expect to read “normal” voltages on them? But if you’re right about the 100A draw, it sounds like you have a short to ground somewhere. IDK why the fuse wouldn’t blow. -

I don't think I explained it well. There WAS NO clutch damage, and no real issue with the transmission when it went in. They incorrectly installed the ZipKit in a way that made it so multiple gears were trying to engage at the same time. The clutches tore themselves apart. They caused this... -

When to replace coil packs?
I gave up trying to be a contortionist and spent the effort to get the plastic trays out of the way. One for the main battery, and one for the auxiliary battery and its charger. Even then, the A/C lines are in the way on the driver's side, and you have to work around them. -

^^^ what he said. You’ve given us sort of a broad problem space, so it’s difficult to help very much. But if you’re worried about oil in coolant or vice versa, check those first. Doesn’t really match the “rattling noise” though. Unless the fluid problem caused a later mechanical one. -
