I know this thread is years old, but I'm trying to do my part to contribute experiences when/where I have them.
2015 LR4

We had a cold spell last winter (-10 F was the highest temp for 5+ days). I had it one morning (-25 F) that we received a Transmission Fault error and it wouldn't shift into a gear. Shut it off, started again in a few minutes and the fault was gone. Then let it warm up for 20 minutes before trying again and had no issue.
Unfortunately, I also had the battery variable at that time. We had a "battery low" warning that entire winter, but the vehicle always started and ran without issue. Replaced the battery before this winter started.

These things are so damn battery sensitive! I have a new AGM battery for this winter and in the same conditions skiiing overnight at 0 deg it now fires right up compared to last year she was a little hesitant.

Actually, most any modern electronic managed, heavily accessorized vehicle is (necessarily) dependent on a sound electrical power source. P=IE, means these vehicles demand full current and voltage.
Coincidentally, I know of a few vehicles that come standard with a built in battery maintainer... thus masking the owner from the situation at hand.
