Currently at 83,800k, changing every 5k. I personally prefer Mobil 1 5w-30. Just curious to see what the other LR3 guys run with?

I run the same as you in all my vehicles.
I only run Amsoil in all my cars and for the LR3 specifically it's the Amsoil 0w30 Signature Series: http://www.amsoil.com/catalog.aspx?code=AZOQT-EA

It's an oil thread. You're going to be confused.
Castrol Syntec SAE 5W-40 full synthetic for petrol V8
I use what my LR dealer here puts in which is Castrol Syntec SAE 5W-40 full synthetic motor oil, all year around. This is for the Jag 4.4L petrol V8 engine common in the NAS LR3.
The required oil is to meet WSS-M2C205-A or ILSAC GF-3.
The referenced Castrol does meet the above specs and of note, also the VW 502 00 spec. I mention this as my wife's 2005 4Motion Passat 1.8T now requires the VW 502 00 oil so both engines use the same oil. The 502 requirement is a recent upgrade as the owners manual printed in 2004 says 500 is OK. A recent service bulletin was released by VW cancelling the 500 spec oil and requiring the 502 oil. Additionally the factory limited engine warranty was extended on all affected vehicles to about ten years due to the spec change.
I might add that here on the prairies of Western Canada, air temperatures in excess of 80F occur perhaps 5 days a year and temperatures lower than -20F are common for about forty days a year. -40F is not unknown, but those kind of cold spells rarely exceed 15 days.
