Its plausible that chain slack is causing a problem because the miss-fires could be timing related at the mechanical side with the camshaft(s) instead of fuel delivery and spark delivery. Did you check the chain tension? On my V8 I stuck my finger in the oil fill and could push the chain down...
No I wouldn't expect magnesium, but it is light and strong and used in the industry. Some C5 corvettes had magnesium rims and there are engine cradles out there made of it. As an aside, I've watched a bumper install vid where they cut that whole cross-member out on each far side and removed it...
Its pretty quiet in my rig, I don't hear much road noise. Slight engine noise and that's it but with those additions I'd expect a lower sound floor on the highway and probably better sounding audio.
Maybe its the fuel pump going out. Has it ever been replaced? Mine went at about 80k miles before I bought it. It will likely get progressively worse so its better to fix it when its possible.
I've put a JBL Partybox back there with a 12" subwoofer, 2 7" mids, tweaters, 1000W and that was not a problem area for rattles. For mine rattles are where the rear plate is and the tailgate area.
How do you know its rich? Back when I drag raced we data logged only at WOT (99% as shown on 0 based index) to determine if it was lean, rich, timing advance, knock, ******, etc.
In that last vid that engine sounded like it had chain slap. I haven't worked on the floor, but had thoughts of tearing out the seat cushions on the 3rd row and mount Lifepo4 cells in its place.
The 1 quart in 500 miles story is thirsty, but the real issue is having to check the oil. Waiting for the computer to initialize and god forbid if a door is open then its even more time before the oil gauge is accessible, if its ready. Meanwhile all that juice is draining from the battery. So...
Have you tried the SDD that is on the Jag forums? If you have paid to use AI then you've paid for stolen copyrighted material so pretty much anything is fair game now. I wouldn't give GAP another $400.
The way I did it was to put that money that would have been sent to GAP into a new laptop...
UHaul has quality towing hitches and receivers, I've bought from them and would go back. For my hitch I had the idea to upgrade so I can get the 700 lbs tongue weight instead of the lower 550# that the manual refers to. But the reality is I don't have a trailer now so I haven't researched brands...
Welcome to the LR4 owners club!
If you plan to have a mechanic do the chain work its normally best if they buy the parts that way they are held responsible for them. When I bought my '12 it needed chains too.
I tried lifting up on the cover and it tweaks up by hand so it may not need tools unless I need to be prying further down. I didn't put too much pressure without having the plastic push pins because it felt like I could break or bend something if I kept pulling up lol. But on both sides the...
Are they designed such that you can take them on and off repeatedly? I was thinking about mounting an antenna off one of the bolt holes, but only periodically. That way it could mount a 4g/5g booster antenna to stream maps and pandora out in BFE. I haven't figured out where to mount the antenna...
When I was shopping for engines I was lead on by a company that said their 5.0L remans had more power because they were bored out. He was selling them off his site and ebay. Doing the math from the numbers he gave me, its "bored" to 307 CI vs 305 CI. More power across the entire RPM band he...
I've never had that happens so I was curious how they are concluding that coolant is getting into the exhaust is all, no suggestions sorry. My coolant is pinkish (as is dexcool), not sure how they started with blue unless they are dying the coolant and chemical reactions from exhaust change the...
Sorry to hear that, David. So when they did the pressure test, they drop the exhaust header, run the test and then visibly see coolant dripping out of the exhaust port(s)?
It sounds like there would need to be a coolant channel right next to the exhaust outlet on the head for there to be a...
Those side covers are critical to get right and the windshield needs to be set perfectly. My windshield didn't get lined up perfectly so when there is a side-wind on the freeway the pillar covers make noise.
I looked at that and decided that I didn't need it and enter/exit through the passenger door. The starter battery is disconnected when overlanding so the battery doesn't drain. One consequence is not having the hatch work even with the bypass.
In weather like we have now in the Mohave (104F) I...
