Bad to Worse - Radio/NAV dead
unlikely the alternator could damage anything on the RR. jump starting and/or external charging can however, because the voltage spec of the electronics can be exceeded. We see this quite often in the older Porsches - 16 volts is the max spec but those quick chargers or boosters can belt out...- Shark_LR3

Opinions on best year for a used RR
We just traded our '05 Lr3 for an '06 RR HSE. The LR3 had a bad coil and full tank leak. We had suspension issues too. The RR drives really nice, we'll see if it is any better fault wise. Gonna miss the 7 seats for the family tho.- Shark_LR3

There is a long term solution, works great on my other cars. I'll test it on the rover. inexpensive, easy to apply too. -

I know what you are talking about - we make a leather cover for Porsche cars and it's very popular. The LR3 has the airbag in the dash - so you can't really cover off that. -

Update Tech found a defective harness routed to the front height sensor. This is portion is not exposed and was a problem in assembly of the harness connector/wire. No faults for a couple of days now.... -

OK the news on our suspension fault (2005 50K miles) IDS codes spat out RF sensor. Parts had to be ordered so we endured a week of woes. So just yesterday that was replaced, which seemed strange to me that a height sensor would cause the LR to SLAM to no suspension at all and say 30 MPH only... -
How to break into an LR3
i didn't read the whole thread but we got locked out, key in (kids) and called the local tow company. they have a air bladder used to separate the door jam a bit, long wire i directed the guy to the central console, hit it and we were in. -

There is quite a bit of clearance between the wire loom and wheel. Stock tires, light duty use, no way it would contact. -

vac it, then hit it with a mild bleach/soap solution, vac it again, put a couple of heaters in the interior to follow-up and dry it. bleach kills any live stuff. -

I did a quick check of the wiring, no sign of any damage. Ours is working now. I think the leaky exhaust valve is plausible. I mean there was NO pressure in the suspension at all by the time I was 5-10 mins down the road. Now she's fine. But all of the faults are stored of course. Now if it is... -

the air compressor is a problem for me yes, but not for you. yeah i agree it looks like they were on top of it and spent some time at the dealer. used '05 go for around $23K up here so they should be less where you are at. all depends on colors, equipment and if you like it. -

that is NOT the a/c compressor. that is the fargin' AIR Compressor for the suspension. don't we know it. At least you'll get a good one. pj -
