2015 side step -- really a side impact safety feature?
The LR dealer knew I was taking it off an did not prevent me or warn me that this is now a safety feature. My logic is that the car without a sidestep makes it just as safe as a 2014. Maybe the safety text is there because they don't want you to replace it with a dirt cheap side step. I can... -

I am in a new 2015 HSE --- this is the 5th day I had it. This morning, pushed the start button, one faint click then nothing. Pushed again, nothing, again, again, again, CRAP!!! It was 1degree outside, but it should still work! Waited 10 minutes, car started. Let it idle for ~10mins... -

It is a square steel bar welded to thick steel flanges and square steel cross beams. I'd guess each side weighs 40lbs+. I removwd the aluminum extrusions ... They were blocks mounted to the frame of the car. I believe they are supposed to transfer any impact to the chassis. This is no... -

So I got my new 2015 yesterday, the first thing I did was remove the sidestep. The metal bar that supports the steps goes the whole length of the door curtain. The bar flange says 'SAFTEY ITEM DO NOT REMOVE'. When you remove it :) ... behind the flange are several extruded aluminum blocks... -

Get used black lr3 crossbars on eBay. That's what I did. New lr2 don't fit, new lr4 only chromtastic. Only other option is to buy new lr4 bars and paint over chrome. -

Lr4 Mpg
I just finished two decent road trips. Trip A was 100% highway, 65 average mph (my cruising speed is typically 75mph but this includes stops, starts, tolls, etc...), 20.4 MPG on computer but actual math was 19.1 MPG. Trip B was 80% highway, 20% city, 40 average mph, 18.4 mpg on computer... -
