If you have a Discovery I, you can put in an aftermarket door lock actuator, just replaced all 5 on my 98 they only cost 10 bucks each and only required me to change the wiring connector to make them work -

I have to agree with the other posters, rebuilt alternators just dont hold up they never last. I think buying from autozone while its probably a poor make also at least it comes with a warrenty -

Hello Everybody Remote not working
If your remote has quit working, I would bet money that the splice joint in the wiring harness has corrsoion on it and has failed. Its easy to check and repair. pull up the passenger front door sill plate....plastic cover that runs along the lower edge of the door between the carpent and metal... -

I agree with Joey, if its not a major coolant leak and you keep tabs on the level it shouldnt be too much of a problem. Just make the job that much nastier from the grim buildup when ya do get around to doing the headgaskets :P -

What do these dash lights mean?
Land rover put out a new repair kit for these modulators also last year, tho the price went up to about 700 bucks. It comes with the new shuttle valve which Joey mentioned and also a new solenoid control unit, which is the bit on the side of the modulator that all the electrical connectors go... -

Well just pop the old one off with a small flat screwdriver, the new ones can be a bit tricky to install without breaking them. They have 2 things to look at one is a round pin the other is a 1/2 inch long plastic arm. What I do is slip the arm into the slot with the round pin at the at the top... -

2004 Discovery Engine Misfire - could it be the head gasket
I agree with jkeving, it sure sounds like you have a crack in the block probably behind the cylinder sleeve, only a good machine shop will be able to find it tho. They have to remove the liner and pressure test the block. I would try a block sealer, its worth a shot at least. -

Check that your electrical fans are working, sounds like they might have failed. easy check start up the truck and turn on A/C the elec fans should come on immediatly and run continusly. they are mounted right behind your front grille -

heed some help
Could be the catalitc convertors have failed, the internals break loose and rattle/knock inside the cans. Just take a rubber mallet and give both sides a thump...see if you hear the knock your looking for.- 98Disco

You dont have to pull the starter, with either of the 2 rubber plugs out just rotate the crank till they come around. pretty hard to see and ackward tho -

It may be the flex plate has cracked, peice that connects the torque converter to the crank shaft, they can make a light knocking noise. Usually crack when the dowel alignment pins are missing from the back of the engine. Which is possible if you just had the engine replaced -

Oil Change...
It shouldnt be a problem, tho I would make sure to have the oil changed no longer than every 6 months regardless of your mileage. One other thought is that your LR3 comes with free service maintaince up to 45k or so. I do know that the free service's expire based on time and not mileage... -

Fuel Tank Breather Tube
It sounds like you might have a problem with the vent system. I have had the same issue on my 98 DI when i try to squeeze in a bit more fuel after the pump shuts off. There is a tech bulletin for this problem for replaceing the fuel tank trickle valve. Its too large of a file to upload here tho.
