We will end up skiing 10-20 days this year, so I figure that's enough dedicated time on snow and ice to justify full-on ice tires. Plus PDX likes its ice storm events, and I need to be able to get to work. Had the Michelin studless on the last two years and managed well... -

I'm running 19s and love the tires so far. nice and quiet, good bite on gravel and dirt, no hydroplaning. Haven't had them in snow yet, but next week's forecast gives it a chance. I will pull them for dedicated ice/snow studies later in the month regardless, but I highly recommend them. -
Folding mirrors while locking
no need to use to use the tool, the instructions for turning on/off the folding function are in the manual. -

I've been really happy with my Continental TerrainContact A/Ts (255/55 19). Good traction, comfortable ride and minimal noise. -
Good independent mechanic in PDX?
Anyone got a suggestion for a good independent shop in Portland? Time to do the front brakes and I don't want to play the waiting game to get an appointment with the dealer. TIA -

the LR4 19inch tire dilemma
Set of 5 Conti ATs (255/55 19) arrived today, just waiting on the appointment to get them mounted. Nice aggressive looking tread, but the longitudinal channels seem to be the major feature. Should be a ago summer of testing on gravel and dirt roads... -

Traction/Stability control on snow and ice?
With Michelin studless ice and snows on last winter, I was able to drive pretty much anywhere during 2 multi-day ice storms in Portland. there was definitely the opportunity to slide, but with careful driving and anticipating off-camber roadways my 2012 was very controllable, a whole lot easier... -
Will not start
We had a similar issue about 6 months ago. Wife went to start our 2012 and no turnover. I went out, pushed ******* the brake pedal and it kicked over. Two days later we had to replace a dead battery (so much for my being able to rub it in :)). My guess would be a failing battery -
Flashing Parking Brake light on dash
I'm going to speculate that, unfortunately, it is likely the parking brake actuator. Ours failed over the summer with the brake locked on. Other symptom was a loud squealing from the rear brakes, like the sound of a rock in the caliper but on steroids. Cost a bit under $1k out of warranty... -
Any British Standard fasteners?
I guess nobody spent time working on bicycles in the late 70s, early 80s. Woe to the mechanic who didn't recognize British threads...:). -
fold outside mirrors when locked
Any chance you are also having locking or unlocking issues as well? We had a broken latch plate on the driver door that caused a problem with locking the vehicle. First symptom was the mirrors refusing to fold at locking. -
Rear Camera and Rear/Front Sensor Question
On the beeping while locking issue, you don't happen to keep your phone close to the key do you? I've noticed that if my key is in my pocket with my iPhone (or in very close proximity) my 2012 HSE will beep at me when I try to lock. -
