Hello,

I just purchased a 2005 LR3 with 118,000 miles. It is very clean and seams to have been well taken care of. How many miles can I expect out of this vehicle without too much trouble?

There is a member on the disco3uk site username Character he must be close to 600,000 miles by now. Believe he's on his 3rd transmission and 3rd engine.

Cheracter does not count anymore , as his engine quit at 464 000 miles , actually leak on one of the cylinders or something like that.So he got another disco 3 after that.
My LR3 has 156 000 miles as of yesterday .

464k out of a single engine is pretty darn impressive, IMO. thorgal yours at 156k is also a nice testament to its longevity. My '05 is becoming a baby (is that possible?) as it now has 116,500 miles. The first year I logged a ton of miles, but have slowed down.

Since it's from a UK site it's worth asking: Was Cheracter's original engine petrol or diesel?

I'm on the original compressor at 82K miles. But I have replaced both front hubs, control arms and bushings. And I suspect a drive shaft or the torque converter is on the way out as I feel a hard clunk as I slow to a stop. And I've got some odd sound that sounds like birds chirping at start up before cranking the engine and it happens again just after the engine turns off.

That bird chirping before strut up and shut off sounds like a rear differential motor going bad , that sits on top of the diff. case.providing that you have a locking rear diff.
