P38 Project

Hello All,

I just got an good deal on a P38. It has a great interior and the paint is good too. The guy I bought it off of is a mechanic and just rebuilt the engine. He didn't want to do anything else and was tired of it.

I have quite a long punch list, but I like doing that stuff and will post my progress here.

Here is some of the things I have found so far....

Air Suspension works and doesn't leak !!
I have some error codes when you first turn the key on
Windows not in the right position?
"gearbox fault"
Airbag fault

ABS light is on
Pulls to the left
Needs tie rods ends and bushings all around
AC/Heater Blower not working
heated seats not working
CC not working
Sun Roof doesn't close all the way
cant read the heater control panel
aftermarket radio sux

Check engine light is on with the following codes
p1608
p1775
p1708

It looks like those codes are associated with the BeCM and it might be bad?

Wow... that list may be fun to clean up, and like you stated may be cleaned up with a BeCM but you will need to have it programmed to the vehicle.

I would have someone with the Land Rover Specific computer plug in and check things might save lots of money.

There is a dealership close by. maybe I could get it done there. Is there a place that I can send the BeCM to in the states that can fix it? I saw this one but it is in England ....

I am not sure if it can be done outside of the vehicle, but if it can, contact Nathan via my signature, I know he has a rover computer and works on a lot of P38's

I ended up putting a new battery in it and that fixed a lot of the codes.

I still have a fault code of 1775 and 1608. With a gearbox fault on the dash
